Okay - I do not mind a "rescue " mission. I like these older comics and do not like to see them thrown out. Many thanks.

Received the comics in the mail today. Many thanks. Like the folks on Antique Archeology - I will endeavor to put the comic where it belongs - with someone who appreciates it.

To follow your example I may just give it away - stay tuned!!!

You are kidding me on the "good story" thing - right? In the 90's it was all about the art.

Hot Comic Books for Fall 2018

Okay here is my comments;

SELL THESE BOOKS TO ME IMMEDIATELY! (i.e hits)

(I cannot believe I am asking for this throw away comic... )

Marvel Tails #1 (Nov. 1983) – 1st Appearance of Peter Porker ***This comic is smokin’ like bacon on a skillet.***

Peter Porker the Spectacular Spider-Ham#1 (May 1985) – Peter Porker gets his own series, which lasts for 17 issues

Edge of the Spider-verse #2 – 1st Appearance of Spider Gwen

Amazing Spider-man (vol. 3) #4 – 1st Appearance of Silk

Ultimate Fall-out #4 – 1st Miles Morales, Spider-man
Carnage Mind Bomb #1 (Feb. 1996) – First Solo Carnage Book and mentioned by Donnie Cates in an interview. (BLOWING UP - price-wise)

PASS (i.e. get the 39 and a half foot pole we used for "The Grinch" )

The first two below are very well written comics whose characters just did not catch on. May get a bump for the 1980's craze, but I do not see the staying power. Of course I was wrong on early issues of TMNTs, so I could be wrong again. The others are just mech - Shazam could get bump from movie - just not a quality comic.

Power Pack #1
(Aug. 1984) – Origin and 1st Appearance of the Power Pack. It’s a
little surprising to see this on the list but the value is going up. (Too many available.)

Darkhawk #1 (Mar 1991) – This book and Marvel Age #97,
(Feb 1991) which is a 5 page preview, are seeing increases as the loyal
and vocal fans of Darkhawk continue to chant his praises. (ditto)
Shazam #1 (Feb. 1973) – 1st Appearance of Shazam, Captain Marvel Jr., and Mary Marvel since Golden Age (Goofy DC issues from the 1970's - very mediocre - decent value - do not see any big increases)

Avengers 346 – 1st Starforce which includes Captain Atlas, Supreme Intelligence, Dr. Minerva, Ultimus, Shatterax, and Korath (too many issues available - common book)

ADD TO THE LIST:
Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer #1 (one shot based on the movie) https://links.gitshare.io/link/-9Mkt0ODnxo//MgAwADIANgAwADMA.jpg - Those that grew up in the 80's want thier childhood back. Just sold my copy at Cartersville Comic Con the other week.!!!

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (DC Miniseries #1 - #3) The 35th Anniversary was just celebrated Huzzah!

Just my opinion

A rating system or approved seller list of some kind has been suggested. Look for other forum topics on this.

I have suggested CPG hold monthly auction of vetted sellers - eBay is a strange mix of retail stores at full retail plus prices - whose staff puts comics on eBay and semi-professionals with unrealistic expectations. A collector to collector exchange with both parties being realistic could be useful.

CPG has a Facebook page but it appears to be filled with more professionals and people with unrealistic expectations - just my opinion

Most folks who have been here two years or more are pretty responsive and responsible.

I sell at regional conventions so once in a great while I sell the same item twice - usually catch before I accept offer. This is very rare occurrence for me.

Hope this helps

About three years ago I had the "let go" app on my phone for the sole purpose of hunting down comics.

I showed up to buy a few for $15 as agreed and this guy had a copy of UXM
#266 they all looked rough and they were all in page protectors with
sharpie all over the plastic with notes. NONE in the lot in question
would clear a "5" I figured I'd let the kids at them since they were
mostly classics illo's and maybe flip the rough #266 for my $15 back.

I get there, and now he wants $25 and he's pulled the 266 out and is
asking $75 for it. I got back in my car and started it and he runs up to
the window asking for $20. I said "We agreed on $15 for all,you changed
that this is the outcome good luck." He goes: "Ok, Wait, why not $30
for all?" I said What happened to the original $15 we agreed on?

He replied: "I googled them after we texted and this ones worth $155.00"
pointing to the UXM #266. I asked him if he understood the fact that, he
was referring to a guide price for a book that was in at least 7 times
better condition than the one he had was in and that if he had done a
little more "research" before he posted them he wouln't have wasted my
time or gas money. (It was about 25 minutes from my house but I was
hoping that i would find a diamond in the rough within the lot since I
was more interested in the DC Ghosts issues for my collection and didn't
even notice the 266 at the time) Also the fact that he changed his
price was strike two.

He apologized and asked again if I would do $30 I said No thank you, and pushed in the
clutch pedal and selected reverse and he goes "OK,OK $15. I said for all
of them or nothing at all. He agreed reluctantly but in the end we both
kinda lost as he got paid to waste my time and money and didn't learn
any apparent lesson from the interaction as I later saw a different listing from
the same guy pulling a similar stunt with some EC reprints. and I didn't
learn anything useful AT THE TIME.

In retrospect I learned to check everything out more thoroughly before I
buy (as the UXM #266 was missing 4 pages and I got greedy and excited
when he folded. Take your time if one of you is in a rush then you may
make a snap decision you regret later.

Most importantly if it's to good to be true then it most like IS to good to
be true. Ultimately if you start to walk away and it feels right to do
so follow that instinct.

Point being- OPEN YOUR BOOKS when grading them! i see a lot of sellers grading by the outside appearance only.

Too many people grading by googling top price. I have similar stories but not as dramatic. EVERYONE SHOULD READ!! - JIMHO. KDS

A "quick" way to give buyers some confidence is to greatly expand the Home Page section "SOLD" list of comics with the seller listed. Then buyers will have an idea of recent past performance of sellers that a transaction actually occurred and books were received. Instead of the "View All Sales" link taking you to all comics for sale - make a "More Comics Sold" list to take the link to e to a long list of recent comics SOLD by issue, seller and price.

I was doing some research and found that Batgirl #28 Middleton variant which comes out today is selling like crazy on eBay. The average price is around $10 with a high of $25 for a raw book. When you're out at your local comic shop today you might want to pick it up.

Plus, it's a beautiful cover.

Just trying to keep my people informed.

Regular issues are routine tasks. Again - what time crunch are we in?

I thought this Con might have problems when I did not even find out about it till Wednesday. I had seen no cards or posters anywhere at any of the comic shops in Austin, Texas which is 75 miles away from San Antonio. Now I saw where Sean McKeever arrived and there was no guest pass for him, no place for him to put his books and he had no idea if there was a hotel for him. Whoever is running this Con is running it into the ground. This Con seems to have a heavy emphasis on celebrities more than comic book artists, so maybe that is the problem too.

You should contact them and volunteer to run it yourself!

How do I know what shipping will be upfront? If the seller asks for an exorbitant shipping price, can I cancel, and will it impact my ratings at all? Also, if I pay and never receive the item, what sort of recourse do I have? Thanks in advance. (PS...I watched the tutorials and see nothing that explains my questions)

Wrap up what you plan to ship in shipping package. Take to Post Office (or UPS). Ask about options for shipping. Ask them to weight and give you a prices for each option. Provide price to buyer.

Shipping packaging and pricing options can be confusing at first - a little research on US Post Office website and questions in person - you will figure it out. This make take a few times of trial and error - but you have to figure out what works. Check what people are shipping for on eBay. This is a clue as to your total cost of shipping for a similar item.

I'll try not to spoil the story but the short answer is that Booster does not get killed. Booster wants to get Batman a wedding gift and his "gift" leads to an alternate timeline that is reverted to the original timeline at the end of the story.

See - I knew it was a Zombie or an alternate time line!!! Good guess for five months ago. No flux capacitor needed!

Actually I think Booster Gold is a interesting character as originally written - DC just has not done a lot to develop him IMHO.
Too often DC just through him in as comic relief. I think I still have the JLE issue where Booster and Blue Beetle go to hell and make pancakes (or was it burgers? I forget) for hungry demons - literally!

Have not read the new story...

DISCLAIMER: I am not an admin - sorry. Only my opinion/suggestion below.

I would be all for adding a bar code for a GOLD PLUS (PLATINUM?) membership. Not sure I agree with user defined field - this is a potential security problem - too many malformed entries on the web that are used to hack a website.

Currently on CPG You can export to ".csv" file by publisher - but I find I get my comics 'for sale' and 'not for sale' are all lumped together. Then I have to remember which ones to edit out. And the export lacks my sale price or purchase price, just contains guide value and condition.

My current solution - put all comics of interest in a CPG "comic box" feature - navigate to this box (up to 100 comics). Copy the HTML table on the screen and paste into spreadsheet. This way I get my sale price and price paid. Still requires some editing - but the information is there.

I looked into this and Dylman is correct. The writer was asked about this and he said they were trick or treaters. So it's the first appearance of their costumes. It's a great issue to have since it predates the first appearances though. I've raised the value of that book to reflect the market. (It shows a down arrow because I tweaked it after my first price change. In reality it went up quite a bit.)

All the best,

Ron

Just to give you some feedback - I did try the "free" app a few months ago. It was okay, but I was not crazy about it.

I find the website is so well designed for a mobile phone - I just use the URL - works great and you have done a wonderful job making website compatible with mobile phones.

I know some folks prefer app only.

Perhaps should give the app another go...
