there is an option when adding issues to your collection to record how much you paid for it is there a way for cpg to use that data in the compilation of it's values?
What better way to know how much it's worth if it's already there what was paid. High or low it will show the willing to pay/what a deal factor right from the get go issue by issue regardless of popularity. |

Most of my buying is done in bulk transactions with about 10-15% or so in new issues from my lcs.
A lot of the bulk stuff is 8.0 or lower in general which I don't mind as the main reason I'm buying is to read them anyway.
Occasionally I'll find a nicer book and hold off reading that story or series until I find one that I don't mind handling.
Price-wise I prefer 6.5-7.5 grades to fill the gaps more easily. |

I Agree. Maybe in addition to this there are a lot of people who have no interest in comics who end up (here) with inherited collections.
Maybe we can offer a service that will find those collections homes either in the form of auctions or donations and, depending on whether they are sold as a whole lot or parted out. |

two thoughts on this:
1.
even if the writers/creators knew of this most of them i would imagine already have access to such "keys" as a part of the creative process/proofing of the books pre-release anyways and....
2.
a good way to keep an eye on market jumps and such things would be to look at sales on the internet (as ox said) and if some random 1st app. starts jumping in price out of nowhere then it warrants a further delving into.....
just my two cents... |

My oldest overstreet #19 has supes #12 @ $86 in good $260 in fine and $600 NM in 1990, my 2008 Comics buyers guide doesn't even list it. The cut off was October 1956.
I would be interested in such a service. Nice to hear from you sclingerman. |

noticed a question mark on the value of batman vol.3 #7 walmart exclusive.
since they come in 3 packs for $5 then maybe just plug in $1.66 as a base price since that was price per comic @ retail?
maybe round up for tax/simplicity.

Depending on how you want to sell them it's a simple matter of time/effort put into listing them versus simply liquidating them all at once if you want more $ out of them then it would be advisable to part out the more valuable books and key issues first then splitting the remaining books into lots or if like you said you want to sell them en-masse then contacting a buyer like mycomicshop.com or an auction house (local or otherwise) would be your best bet.
Either way you'll still have to come up with a general list of what you have. either a text document or excel spreadsheet that you can email to a potential buyer would greatly help you out as far as selling the whole lot.
try a few google searches on comic book auctions and see if some one would be willing to let you consign them to an auction. A local auction would cut out the added hassle and cost of shipping them. |
