Well, it's been a while so I figured I'd post a little something here.
Since I just got home from work.... picked up the old telecaster and found it in need of some tlc so I restrung it and gave it a good polishing. I love the sound of new strings!
read #1-11 of Aliens: Defiance, gotta pick up #12 on payday to see how it ends. so far the ongoing Faith series is good from valiant trying to play catch-up on my x-o stuff as well. and way behind on the "new,(2014/15)" spidey 2099 stuff. also digging into the old image long boxes lotsa neat stuff in there too....
well off to my juicer for a fruit smoothie....... laters |

Does anyone ever use the Sales "Offer" feature?
expander

I use it it's the best way to let the seller of that particular book know that you're interested plus it has the added value of letting you know when the offer has been accepted as well as when the seller marks the transaction as completed it automatically adds the book to your collection! |

I use incomplete books for decoupage projects but only if they are already mangled. If it doesn't affect the story I'd still buy it to read but if the seller doesn't say so first it's very much a slap in the face not knowing ahead of time what you're getting.
As far as grade.... +1 Defiant1 |

Crystal Ball: '80s Indies Titles Worth a Crap?
expander
|
I can agree I like a lot of the indie stuff. I've been struggling to put a southern knights run together for years. I also liked Zen Intergalactic ninja. Jon Sable was another good one from first comics.
A quick hop over to ebay can turn up a lot of cool stuff but it gets pricey quick. most of those books had semi-decent distribution for what they where and WHEN they were but a lot of indie titles debuted and got shut down after 2,3,4 issues so there were a lot of #1's out there that set up a great story but the creators got shut down or the small publishers went bankrupt or even worse they never got published at all.
The 80's were fraught with copyright lawsuits as well and some titles/characters bearing to similar a likeness to the big two properties got slammed with cease and desist (sp?) orders in a heartbeat.
There is a market for these types of books but it's a small niche market and it's crowded by sellers and plagued with over pricing. that being said there are deals out there, they're just few and far between.
bottom line is if you want it it's out there you just gotta dig....then pay. |

So What Pulled You Back Into Collecting?

As a child my grandmother would buy me jcpenny lots for Christmas and my birthday. I read every book over and over and I used to draw a lot (I wanted to be an artist) so she would get me comics and I would recreate the panels as best I could at the time.
I spent HOURS upon endless hours in my room drawing and asking for more. I would end up with random marvel dc stuff so my dad would take me out to flea markets and auctions to buy more comics.
I wound up with about 200 or so books and they thought well you have enough but, I had random issues like FF 401,UXM 396,Namor #2,9,24 and so on and I had so many sparsely numbered issues that I didn't have any complete stories so I tried to find a local comics shop to spend my allowance at but there where none where I grew up so it kinda fell to the back burner.
I enjoyed movies based on comics throughout the years. However after I got married and had children my interest in comics had faded considerably.
Once my ten year old saw spider-man he had a ton of questions so I was like lets go find you some comics so you can read them for yourself, that brought it crushing back into my life.
Now everyone I know comes to me with their comic questions and I have over 15,000 books many doubles and a few hundred small collections for the kids and my wife even reads a few titles too. We all watch comic based movies and shows and get each other comic related gifts like t-shirts, movies, coffee cups and of course lots of comics!
Oh and btw way we now have two LCS options where we live so weekends are my favorite time to take the kids out and see all the old/new comics and we spend most sundays talking about what we bought/read on saturday and plan next weeks adventure accordingly. |

I've got a few of these. some of the reprint covers are walmart exclusive. there's a good bit of marvel stuff in there as well. avengers vol. 7 and asm vol. 4 stuff i just don't like the shrink wrap on em it's hard to get a 9.2 out of there. I really like the printed DC backer board that comes in them though. |

Nice Goals When I read your #3 I laughed because I put off reading a title when I'm missing one. There can be 11 of the 12 issues and I won't read it.
Yeah missing #5 out of a five parter it'll sit till I get #5.

#4 Conventions are funny things. My favorite conventions have toys, comics, original art, artists, and cosplay. I love talking to artists, watching them draw something and occasionally buying something. Cosplay just intrigues me. People make very specialized costumes, spending months to create something and then showing it off. very cool.
In addition to getting to a con I wanna take my oldest two kids with me to let them soak up some of the culture and atmosphere.

#7 Goal with your son and his first car. Good Parenting! I tinker with cars buy one and work on it for a month or two and then sell it. Nothing big. I'll buy a Miata with a bad top, replace the top for $130 bucks and sell it for $1000 more than I paid for it. Whatever you decide to buy with your son, find a car that has easy to source parts.
Right now he thinks he's gonna be getting our clapped out '98 Acura CL with 275,000Mi. on it. Although he helped me swap a used transmission into it I think it's just about had it. |

Best Way to Post Bulk Lot / Whole Collection?

You can use the buy/sell button at the top of the page and post a classified ad. Depending on how many you have it may be quite a hassle to ship so you might want to post them on a local buy/sell app on your smart phone like letgo or buy sell trade on facebook. If you need any further help don't be afraid to check back here and ask! Welcome to the forums! |

Ah the good ole days! I still miss the old forums. I've been trying to get on here more often but I get so sidetracked by things that need done offline. I usually hop on after work in the morning. I'm glad to see there's more activity recently, but I fear it will never be the same. |

LOL!!!
I was excited about some of the titles that legacy brought back but fresh start just feels like it's the beginning of yet another gimmick in a long LONG line of gimmicks.
It's not that I won't read the new stuff but it seems like a new excuse for 50+ variants of the new #1's.
I can hear the ebay execs wringing their hands in excitement over this one.
Too cynical???? |

Same here.
If you notice the blue box they are displayed in is actually part of the case that they are shipped in. All they do is cut the top off and the comics are already in a "display cut."
They may or may not even get more in since I think they only re-order once the full display is emptied.
I see this often at where I work in the distribution center for Cabelas. |
