Suggest you take ten or twenty to your local comic shop or someone you trust that is good at grading comics. They can assist you in verifying your comic book grade - or give you some additional pointers. Feedback is a good learning tool. There are several websites with grade descriptions - unless you are familiar with the term used the might as well be speaking insurance (or Latin). |

VICTORY! All comics scanned into CPG!

VICTORY AT LAST!
After months of effort, I have finally finished scanning the 1800 or so comics I own into the ComicsPriceGuide database! I have about 100 or so Archie's that I didn't bother scanning, but hey, you know.... they are Archies after all.
It was actually a great thing to do, and the process was addictive in itself. It gave me a chance to look at all my comics again! Re-familiarize myself with all the gems that I have been hoarding, re-bag and board them (a lot of them now double boarded in a new mylite+ bag) and make notes on grade. That incredible old comic smell... I put the real beauties in top loaders.
I miss it already - dammit - give me something to scan, bag and board already!
Bring on the Archies I guess.... Congratulations!!! You can come to my place and do mine!!! |

"DUCKMAN" Help needed
kds_comics

Taking the last item first - can it be graded? I assume it can - but you would have to ask CPG or CBCS (or PGX might take it)
And the date is 1994!! Duckman comics are valued at full Guide price of $3 each of they are in great shape. Remember - this is supply and demand (college economics if you took it and stayed awake).
I would ask $10 for it - see what you get. My opinion is that it is probably not worth your cost to grade - You could - but that is up to you.

Help with signatures

Gibson was the signature I found that was the closest (though not fully convinced), so maybe that's it. I'm certain its not Jim Lee, I have 3 other books signed by him. I bought the book as I am trying to get all of the Whilce Portacio puzzle covers that go with this one. The first time I've seen this book in years was with these signatures on it. I really only noticed Portacio's signature at the time, ignoring the others. When I finally sat down to look at it, I was kind of surprised. It's obviously signed by more people, but I can be sorta clueless at times!
Thanks for the help.

I deleted your "guest" post since you reposted it.
We haven't really talked about changing the grade for new books lately. We have talked about getting rid of 10.0 since it's extremely rare and it gives people a false sense of value. Some people only look at the top number and say they have a book valued at that crazy high price.
I would suggest not allowing a raw grade over 9.6 I think I have graded two books in the over 20,000 I have owned as 9.6 - talk about rare!
There simply are no raw books at 9.8 or above.
If you have a graded comics at 9.8 or above - CPG should allow it to be in the database - it it legit (pending pictorial proof, of course! Just my opinion. edited by kds_comics on 1/16/2019 edited by kds_comics on 1/16/2019 |

Hi, it is a nice feature but can you make it so it can be turned off and on. It is a little bit of an issue having to open up each set of duplicates in order to set the grades upon entering, so....can it be turned off so that we see all issues like it was up until today? Thanks
I am good with it as is. You still get total box quantity and total box price - I do not need to see duplicates on separate lines.
Just IMHO. |

buy what you like if the comic has a clean cover thats when i'll get it if anything it can be framed and hung on the wall
1) Agree - buy what you like to read.
2) Buy only what you can afford (after you paid all your other bills..)
3) Buy complete comics - no rips, tears, missing pieces.
4) Suggest starting at a reputable local comic shop - usually folks are friendly and knowledgeable. Usually shops are interested in repeat customers - not one time sales.
5) Use CPG (and other guides / retail sites) to check values so you don't over pay. |

Search by autographed comics?

So as I'm adding my comics to my collection I've been using the "autographed" box when needed. Now is there a way to search my collection for just comics that are autographed?
Thanks
I do not know a way of searching "My Collection" for autographed comics. My only suggestion is to create a virtual "Box" here on CPG - put all of your autographed comics in this box - then you can track which have autographs. Hope this helps. Note that your physical box and your virtual box do not necessarily have to match - this is up to you as to how complex you want to get between physical boxes and virtual boxes.

Double covers, while unusual, really add or subtract no value. It is cool, just not valuable.(BTW - AC comics reprinted some of these "Bobby Benson's B-Bar-B" stories in 1990's and 2000's. I have a reprint cheap if you know of someone who needs one.)

The issues in several of my comic boxes are suddenly out of numeric order. I reported the situation and received an email reply saying it was fixed after programming had caused the issue. But it is not fixed and my boxes remain scrambled inside. Can anyone advise? edited by mancat65 on 9/27/2018 Suggest creating a new box, then more all comics from "wacky" box to new box. I have had good luck with comics in alpha-numeric order. Programming glitch may just be that one box. |

Immortal Hulk #10 - 2nd Print Immortal Hulk #10 - 2nd Print error
You would think that 2nd printings have low production numbers so an error would make it even rarer. The cover says issue #8 in the lower left corner on the error version. Everything else is the same. R
Great job finding this error - bravo!!! and Thanks. You should report it to the Error / recall site or have another member do so. (assuming they do not know already) http://www.recalledcomics.com/ComicsByYear.php
