Hi all,

I am just started getting into collecting graded comics. I just happen to come across one a few weeks ago very cheap and it peaked my interest. What are some tips to getting started.

Thank you for any input.

For graded comics make sure that the comic is sealed. Sometimes people will crack them open and the seal will be broken.

Buy what you like
Find an artist that you like and collect some of his or her issues
Buy a certain style like Action #1 Homage covers
Buy a Title that you enjoy like Luke Cage
Buy cover that show your favorite character like Gambit or Storm

After a while you'll figure out what kind of art or collection you want to have.

1) Agree - buy what you like to read.

2) Buy only what you can afford (after you paid all your other bills..)

3) Buy complete comics - no rips, tears, missing pieces.

4) Suggest starting at a reputable local comic shop - usually folks are friendly and knowledgeable. Usually shops are interested in repeat customers - not one time sales.

5) Use CPG (and other guides / retail sites) to check values so you don't over pay.
