classified ads subject line problem when editing
collectibleshop
|
already posted about this in another older 'site problems' thread, been 3 weeks with no response, so will try a new post.
The software cuts off the subject title when you edit the body, even when the character limit is not reached. So I have to delete and post as new to get the full subject line back. Not even editing the subject/title, just the body. what is it with the software and title problems when editing? edited by collectibleshop on 1/19/2022 |

Hi, it helps the admins add stuff if you follow the guidelines here, https://comicspriceguide.com/forum/topic8-guidelines--please-read-before-posting.aspx . Since you own the book, you can fill in that info. You can copy and paste that text and just edit your post to add it.
CPG has the publisher as MCNEIL ENTREPENEURS INC. for 2 titles, https://comicspriceguide.com/publishers/mcneil-entrepeneurs-inc , and M.E. Comix for The Nomads of Antiquity but no Corban. https://comicspriceguide.com/publishers/m-e-comix . they might want to combine the titles under 1 publisher since they have M.E. Comix on the covers. edited by collectibleshop on 1/19/2022 |

those files1.comics.org pic links don't last, so gets an error page. this html page has the pic they can use: https://www.comics.org/issue/648175/cover/4/
you can also speed up the work by posting the creators list, or you can add that info later on the issue's page when they get the book listed, that's something any member can do.
since you're new here, this info will help you out at some point: See this thread for my search tips (4th post down): https://comicspriceguide.com/forum/topic12110-evil-ernie-youth-gone-wild-directors-cut.aspx

shipping

as favabeans says, shipping goes by weight, distance, and sometimes size. Canada post has a pdf file with the rates, as well as an online calculator for individual packages. for the rates (you need a pdf reader to view it) https://www.canadapost-postescanada.ca/cpc/doc/en/support/prices/consumer-prices.pdf you can print out just the shipping cost pages to the US so it's handier.
this is the calculator: https://www.canadapost-postescanada.ca/information/app/far/business/farLetter?execution=e1s1
that way you can determine the exact cost for the buyer, plus insurance if desired. or you can charge a flat free for 1 plus X dollars for each additional comic once you get a feel for costs, but I find that way costs the buyer more overall, so I prefer to charge exact shipping. then there may be customs fees the buyer will have to pay. shipping between countries ain't cheap these days, and then there's the forms etc, so take all that in, and try to sell as much within Canada as you can. |

Ultimate comics Spider-Man #1

casper posted while I was writing this, so maybe this will help or maybe he already has it figured out.
it's these two: https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/ultimate-comics-spider-man/1B/yiuvcp . noted as Unbagged Edition - Sara Pichelli Cover , but from what I can find there was no bagged Pichelli cover incentive cover.
https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/ultimate-comics-spider-man/1-RI/yiuvcs , noted as Sara Pichelli Miles Morales Variant Cover. Limited 1 for 15. cover is correct.
it's the same cover, but MCS and the realm seem to point to 1D being the cover in the bagged edition, with an unbagged newsstand version too.
For the bagged #1, CPG says "There are no values for graded books because grading companies will remove them from the bag, they become 1B", but their 1B is the retailer incentive 1:15 cover from everywhere I've seen, so probably another migration mistake.
so here's my take: 1B/yiuvcp cover is wrong, should be the 1D cover, so could be removed and 1D designated 1B. more fun than wordle or squid game....neither of which I've seen. edited by collectibleshop on 1/21/2022 |

Chuck Norris in Comics

odd that google doesn't come up with a definite answer, you'd think it would be posted somewhere on some Norris fan site, if not in the comic database sites. Best I could find was using the 'everything' search on comics.org and his name and sorted by year. So they mention his name in The Deadly Hands of Kung Fu #19, but it's only a text blurb to announce his appearance in #20. So I'd say #20 is his first app, cover and story. Karate Kommandos wasn't till 1986, so most likely DHOKF 20 was his first comic book. edited by collectibleshop on 1/24/2022 |

Missing: Venom 3 Clayton Crain variant cover

Hi, a couple tips for the future, just sayin', not being mean: 1) read and follow the directions on this post from the top of this forum: https://comicspriceguide.com/forum/topic8-guidelines--please-read-before-posting.aspx 2) put a link to the CPG listing. You know how many Venom #3's there are now from different series/years? At the very least note the volume/year published. 3) attach links to better pics or the pics themselves. I found better pics, so attached them for CPG to use. not necessary once you read how to add them yourself, which is after these tips. 4) read some forum replies before posting, you'll find out how to do things yourself, like add missing variants.
to wit, which is posted tons of times: It's faster if you submit it yourself. Get a good square-on scan, .jpg format preferred, cropped to the edges of the comic. If you can't, then find them on the net, with no watermarks, no signatures, no pro-graded ones, and try to make sure they're a published version, not a pre-production pic (like a Previews solicitation often is), as those get changed in production all the time. Use the "Report Missing Variant" function found in the listings for individual books. You must be logged in to do this. - Navigate to the specific book that is missing a variant.
- Select the 'Variants' tab found next to 'Values'.
- You should see a red box titled "Report Missing Variants" on the right side below any listed variants.
- Clicking the box will bring up a page where you can enter information specific to the variant you are reporting (not all is required). This includes what it's called, price, artist, publication date, etc. This makes it much faster for the admins to process the request.
I could do the variant submission for you, but better you learn so you can do them in the future. With so many variants coming out, it's hard for CPG to catch them all, so it relies on its members to help out, which you have, so good there. edited by collectibleshop on 1/26/2022 |

one google search turns up multiple sites listing 1st apps of marvel characters, like these (which may not be totally up to date as some note): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Marvel_Comics_first_appearances https://heykidscomics.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_first_appearances_in_Marvel_Comics_publications https://www.chronologyproject.com/ which is more comprehensive: "the MCP is an effort to catalog every actual appearance by every significant character in the Marvel Universe, and place them in their proper chronological order." easy peasy is all I'm sayin'. |

oops, totally missed the white title vs gold title thing. since all I see everywhere for that cover is the gold, I assume the publisher's site has a pre-production cover. so attached a pic of the gold letter edition. this stuff gets so confusing with 2 publishers and weird variants. didn't find anyone else with the B&W variant, not sure that site even has the correct image. The cover C virgin appears to be legit. so I'll leave the rest of the detective work to others on this title, have fun.. |

ok, that makes a diff. those one-shots sure make it confusing when you don't collect that series. so CPG's pic for the Howard Porter cover , https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/batman-rebirth/1B/pjyscwp , is actually the 2nd print of the regular cover, so attached a pic of the right Porter cover. which is not the same as the Batman Day one. cripes, could they make things more confusing? edited by collectibleshop on 1/29/2022 |

https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/supernaturals-the/0/sjqxhv . it's the Preview Tour book. has Oct 1998 on the cover, dunno what the inside says. GCD doesn't give a month, and lists it as The Supernaturals Tour Book, which to me is how CPG should have it too, makes it easier to find, and the subnote even says 'not a true 0'. GCD also says it's less than 50% comics, so that's below the CPG standards too, but depends on the interpretation of the inside. but if it doesn't have 0 on the outside or inside (?) then it shouldn't be listed as #0, right?
MCS says Published Dec 1998, but they're not always right either, I find month/year mistakes there all the time too. so maybe comfan can post a pic of the indicia. normally you'd used Oct 1998, but sometimes as we know, the indicia is different. |

I did leave out the possible variant I stumbled on from HipComic ( https://www.hipcomic.com/listing/leave-on-the-light-2-b-w-virgin-anartic-press/6154906 ). I attached the virgin issue cover grab to this post as well. Reverse Image search resulted in no hits; not even for the HipComic entry. If anyone has any thoughts on whether this is a true LotL2 issue/variant, please drop them here
two ways to confirm it--go to the sources: contact Antarctic Press: http://antarctic-press.com/html/Conact.php contact Dave's Comic Vault if this twitter acct is active and the same guy, and ask if he posted the right pic on hipcomic: https://twitter.com/doctorpanic904?lang=en |

yep, it's messed up. attached a downsized pic of 4b to save cpg time. also saw the bad pic for the #1 RI-C foil cover, https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/witchblood/1-RI-C/phrplrw . couldn't find any good pics online, so lightened up CPG's, if they want to use it. most everyone else is using the wrong pic with the regular cover with white letters, like Previewsworld has it, but the foils don't scan well and are hard to photograph. edited by collectibleshop on 1/31/2022 |
