I have a hard time going over 20 a book most times. The one exception, I spent about 100 bucks on FF 48, but I had to there.
When I decided to collect Batman books from issues 150 to 260 I was bidding between $15 to $25 originally. A year went by and my bids went up to $20 to $35 to win the auctions for common issues. The 1st silver age appearances or let's say a Neal Adams book he worked on was above or way above the $25 mark. I completed the little run of issues 150 to 260 a little longer than a year ago. Now if I tripped to do that now, $30 a book would be cheap for most in the grade I wanted. Batman books values went crazy. Now trying to buy issues 261 to 300 even those had a high spike now. So might just pick up one here or there but if not it won't bother to much. As for Fantastic Four 48, I bought a CGC 8.0 for $505 years ago, before the second FF movie and it was the most I ever spent on one book, and still is. After winning it I thought I was crazy. Manic buying at the wrong time I thought. Looking now what a 8.0 sells for I think I won't lose money if I sold it. A year ago a seller had a raw copy in vf. Two other bidders bidding on it besides me, I got it for $230 thinking I was getting a good deal. When I got it in the mail, I was happy to see it was a vf book. I think I could get more than I paid if I sold it, which I won't. Wow CapnDoug, that is a lot of long boxes. Kari must be a saint! |

Got my first graded books from CGC, 1 not bad, 1 terrible... lol. FF 56 came back 7.5 which isn't too bad, and Thor 193 which came back at 5.5....blech. Somehow i missed the staining on the bottom....oh well.
First books sent to CGC, is this something you plan to do more often, submitting more books? Fantastic Four 56 grade is nice. |

Congrats on the Silver Surfer books. And yep shipping is steep by CGC. I guess weighing the benefit of having a book graded by them and the possible final price you might get by selling the graded book has to by thought out to say, yes, even with the shipping costs I'd still make a good amount of money. I agree with you, $30 to grade and another $30 to ship is a large sum for one book. I'd think twice too. |

Signing: value or destruction?

I have a handful of signed books. I like them but don't really buy or get more of them signed. Cool but not worth paying a lot of money that some sell for or what a creator charges. Just not worth the current cost. Using your example of a Strange Tales 110 graded 9.4 I would never do that to a key book, even in a lower grade unless it was falling apart. And even then I'd think not to. Collecting what one likes is great and it seems that signature books are always nice for some collectors. |

Nice... ok, now that is a book I'd pay extra to own. That is fantastic. |

I'm still surprised by the loss of posters on here since the crash. It is past the point of same users ever coming back really. |

Hopefully the lot wasn't too expensive for you. Also I'm with you on one of your recent posts about making a list of issues you need instead of what you have already. It works much easier that way for me with my Batman collection needs. |

Is anyone going to fix these forums so we can attach pictures or is that something forever gone because of the "crash" too?
It is tricky for some to post photo's and yes it is not easy as it use to be before crash. Some, like myself have to post the photo and select "add message" when you are done posting. You look at your post and the photo doesn't show but a link shows. Go back to your post you just added and select "edit". Without adding anything to the post the picture will be showing. Hit "add message" and your photo will be there. This works for me and Aaron passed this on to me to try. I use a Mac by the way. |

Glad you figured out how to post photos. So you like Goofy? Nice HUGE Goofy collection, impressive to say the least. Is that a collection of Star Trek next generation figures on the top shelf? |

Yes, I did mean you have a awesomely large collection of Goofy. Your collection room is well done. I assume your comics are on the shelves hidden by your figures in front of them? edited by Jokerbangedquinn on 6/24/2016 |

Any experience with PGX? No good? I want my comics pressed and cleaned and graded and they seem like a good option. Thanks
PGX isn't liked by most collectors and most will want to use CGC or CBCS. Using CGC or CBCS to grade your books if selling your third party graded books will sell higher compared to a PGX book. It is worth using CGC or CBCS not PGX. |

Best way to sell/move bulk comics?

So why are you deciding to get rid of your Fantastic Four collection? Seems like you spent a lot of time recently seeking out books for the collection in your back issue thread. Never sold that amount at once. You could take one long box to UPS and see what the cost of the box to figure out a price for shipping and just list the collection on eBay with a buy it now or best offer. If not in a rush to get your money try mycomicshop.com and let them sell the books for you and set the prices for you. |

Not many keys in late 90's. You not knowing how to grade, I wouldn't grade anything over very fine. It is much more realistic of a grade. |

Yes you are right about chances of books being better than very fine. I said this since you most likely wont get half the guide price in books from that era and wont get surprised how little you will get since original poster doesn't know much about comics and grading. |

X-factor 75 is not worth more than $3.00 in any grade as a raw book. Where did you find the value of gem mint $4,800? Whenever you get a stack of your "high value books" you think are worth real money, you should look on eBay and see what they have sold for to get a realistic price. edited by Jokerbangedquinn on 7/5/2016 edited by Jokerbangedquinn on 7/5/2016 |
