Amazing Spider-Man 300 On Fire

I know this comic has been hot for a while, but prices are absolutely skyrocketing, I feel there needs to be an update in the guide.
Based on recent EBay sales (sorry Taskmaster), a raw 9.4 would sell for $500+ but it is the mid and lower grades that are way off.
There should also be a value distinction between newsstand and direct but right now they are valued the same in the guide.

I still buy the Overstreet but I certainly don't use it like I used to. I look at CPG every day. I read the forum posts and I check the value changes. I update my collection. This website is so much more important to me as a resource for the hobby I love.
I still like reading the market reports and the top lists from each age but OPG has mostly just sat on my shelf since I bought it.

And the sheep have declared that ASM 300 is worth more than CPG has it listed. Let this blow all your minds. A coverless copy sold for... wait for it...

It means absolutely nothing to me! I'm not a fan of McFarlane's art.
I think the cover is boring and terrible. I'm not a fan of Venom.
I made no effort to get the book. I got mine cheap in a bulk purchase when a comic book store was going out of business.
Defiant, do you have a copy you're willing to part with?
Donald
Seeing as how it means absolutely nothing to him, he is not a fan of McFarlane's art, the cover is boring and terrible, he is not a fan of Venom, he made no effort to get the book, and got it in a bulk purchase, he will probably pay you to take it off his hands. lol edited by rustyauger on 10/20/2020 |

These are not Canadian copies. They are American printings with Canadian Price Variants

Yeah comics are crazy hot right now. The people adjusting the values on the price guide have their work cut out for them. This Detective Comics 241 is still a common issue in the Overstreet but it always sells for big bucks.

But starting in October of 1982, due to currency fluctuation, these publishers could no longer afford to charge the same 60¢ price on newsstands in population centers like Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal — i.e. places where buyers would be paying in Canadian currency. For this reason, both publishers started to demand 75 cents from those newsstand customers north of the border. But instead of placing both US and Canadian prices on newsstand copies as they eventually did, from 10/1982, out to 8/1986 for Marvel and out to 9/1988 for D.C., these publishers produced two distinct batches of newsstand copies: a higher cover price batch and a lower cover price batch.
Each batch was produced simultaneously with the other copies on the same manufacturing equipment, so all are 1st print copies (each batch involving only a change of the black/key plate), but the number of copies created for each batch was different, with each batch sized to fit the corresponding market: the Direct Edition batch size was informed by comic shop order levels, and each of the two Newsstand batch sizes were informed by the size of the target market and newsstand sales trends. The smaller batch of higher cover price newsstand copies — the copies today known as "Type 1A cover price variants" were therefore sold in vastly smaller numbers, were purchased mostly by readers, and have estimated survivorship of ~2% of copies (CGC census data for most issues shows variant rarity between 1-2% of census copies), as we illustrate below

And that's relevant how??
Because you are continually irritated by the fundamental laws of capitalism as if they shouldn't apply to your precious comic collecting hobby. |

I buy comics from lots of places besides Ebay but the rules of the free market exist there as well |
