Adding a UPC push feature
kds_comics
|
I would encourage CPG admins to do a "cost/benefit analysis" of adding UPC to comic.
This would be useful if tied to a program on my computer or phone to read the UPC from a comic and enter it into a database. Especially a sold database.
I think this service would be worth hundreds a month for inventory purposes to a brick and mortar store and could be worth more than a hundred a year to a hobbyist who buys and sells like me. I do hope you are thinking of going in this direction. Plus a printed UPC for comics that have no UPC.
This would save me an incredible amount of time.

I have searched for several different comics such as The Dark Phoenix Saga X-Men Classics, Superman The Man Of Steel, Superman The Omega Man and many others. What should I do to get correct pricing for comics when this happens?
If I may interject - are we having fun yet???
An example from your list is "X-Men Classics". You can look at the publication data in the interior of the comic (the copyright or indica) for the "official" name. Is it X-Men Classic? X-Men Classics? X-Men/Classics? X-Men: Classics? Classics: X-Men? It get ridiculous the variations - but that is up to the publisher.
It is easier to simply search "X-Men" . BTW - there is an X-Men Classic and an X-Men Classics - both were actual titles.
Welcome to the fun part of the hobby!!! Yeah!

It would most likely be the size of the image, 5MB & below i think it has to be. Check the size of your image, I had to reduce the quality to fit some images that i upload a little while ago & then i had no problem.
Hope that helped.
Agree. Reduce picture size to less than 100k. Any more is just a waste of bandwidth. Just imho. |

I am not an admin, but that is an easy one to spot the problem. It's under Four Color here https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/three-stooges-four-color/1170/potwhx Check the copyright publication data in small print on the interior - usually on the first interior page. It should tell you the correct name of the comic is "Four Color #1170"

Diamond shape around Price and Issue
kds_comics
|
The diamond box about the price signified that the comics was sold to a wholesaler to be redistributed to a retailer. (Non-newstand retailers).Often by Western Publishing and with the Whitman imprint. Examples of non-newsstand retailers were Woolworth, McCrory, and other five and dime stores in the 1970's. (What today would be Dollar General or similar).
More than you every want to know is online here http://www.bipcomics.com/showcase/Direct/index.php
In general - there is no value difference for diamond issue. The Whitman imprint is almost always with less than the original - similar to a second print. . |

There is a way to do this - but it is bit of a round about process.
CPG used to have a direct link to creators - I now cannot find it - perhaps I am just missing it.
Go here and you can look up all creators in the CPG database.

It would be interesting to see if the indica does have the apostrophe as well.
As a lesson learned - next time try searching without the "s" or the " ' s " - sometimes the main portion of the word is better for the search engine than the suffix. edited by kds_comics on 8/28/2019 edited by kds_comics on 8/28/2019 |

All depends on condition you can verify that with price guide here!
After you enter the comics with condition you can select the "my issues" tab and CPG will give you the value. There is no extra value for having a nice long run - unless you a completionest and then the value is personal only. edited by kds_comics on 8/28/2019 |

The best place to buy comics if from me, your fellow collector! https://comicspriceguide.com/members/kdscomics
There is also mycomicshop.com if you have a hard to find issue you have to have. Also mid-town comics is very reputable. Facebook is fine - just be cautions. Not everyone guarantees condition like I do.

Good facebook groups about comics?

CPG does have a Facebook marketplace presence here
https://www.facebook.com/groups/1830640233863202/?ref=bookmarks
In general - I find either moderately overpriced comics or wildly overpriced comics on Facebook marketplace groups. I personally recommend very small deals on Facebook - no more than you are willing to lose - as an initial deal with a new person. On the other hand - you can trust me - I am your fellow collector!
