Yes you can try selling them here. Pictures would help and you should take a look at the grading section of the main site to get an idea of how to asses the grade.

It is never, or rarely ever, too late to take care of comics. The first thing I would do is go out and buy some comic bags and boards and comic storage boxes. Any comic store should have a stock of these. Then go through and figure out what titles and issue numbers you have. Then read up and research how to grade comics. From that huge job you can figure out what you want to do. Sell or keep.

If you have any questions as you go along feel free to ask. There are no dumb questions.

Not sure why anyone assumes that the books were in plastic tubs. All the OP said was tubs. wink

Just thought I would ad I cut the shipping a bit and our dollar is pretty crappy right now so the price range on this listing is 733ish to 831ish. One could get it below some of the current realized prices.

You mean kinda like a market correction? Anything I ever needed to know about the stock market I learned from comic books smile

More like they hadn't done anything with the pricing and the algorithms resulted in silly pricing. With this site who knows. They really do whatever they want.

Still think that 98 is mistakenly labelled as over-valued. Damn hard book to find especially is VG or better. It also marks the first creative team change in well over a decade. I cannot stress enough just how hard it can be to find many issues of WW below 112, especially in high grade. Even with prices going up quite a bit in the last number of years WW v.1 is still a pretty cheap series to purchase.

Marvel pence copies

The other reason they are worth less has little to do with scarcity and far more with cost. Shipping from the UK is more expensive and since the US pretty much drives price they rarely seek out books from areas where shipping is more costly. While pence copies are cheap in comparison the cost of shipping often exceeds the value of the books so few are going to buy in. Mostly though most still consider them reprints and, hypocritically, reprints are still less desirable ... in some cases.

So What Pulled You Back Into Collecting?

Oxbladder
Oxbladder
I never quit collecting so nothing got me started again. I did slow down collecting between 1988 and 1992 but I never stopped.

As for the pace around here. It was completely the doing of the folks who run the site. Even before the crash there was little attention and care paid to not only the forum, but the site. Then the crash pretty much polished off what was left. You simply cannot have a forum down for MONTHS with no indication of when it will come back. Forums are also dying out to some extent as people seem to much prefer other social media for communication.

Misprints

Some people may collect certain misprints but the market is pretty damn small. AS for how they affect the grade, that will depend on the defect and how common that defect was. If it is found to affect the entire run than it may have little to no effect. If it is a o0ne or two off it could make the book little more than a valueless oddity.

Professional Grading Advice.

Your two best options for professionally graded are CGC and CBCS. You do not have to be a member to send books to them however if you do purchase a membership you can receive better pricing and "coupons" for free grading or services which often equal the price of the membership.

The process is generally choose the books you would like to send in (you will want to carefully evaluate which books those are because not all books are worth sending in). Fill out the submission forms. Carefully pack the books up and ship them to the facility. You are usually charge when they receive the books. Then wait. That wait can be as little as a few days for the most expensive book or the most expensive services to weeks/months.

Both CGC and CBCS have websites that can answer many of your questions as well as forums and contact information should you have more.

if you are looking just to invest you have to treat it just like any other investment and research what is blue chip and what isn't. With new books there is virtually no way to tell what will become a blue chip down the road as that can take years. There are many books that come out of the gate hotter than hell but quickly die off. With older books some require serious money to obtain but can make it back "quickly" however, you have to be careful too as this takes some skill to do. IMHO some of the best books to invest in are books that came out in the late 60's, the 70's and even the 80's as they are generally much cheaper to obtain and are going up relatively faster.

Lots of people like to focus on just "key" books for some reason but you can also rapidly increase the value of a collection by purchasing many steady risers for cheap and then selling them off. It may not seem like investing it books for a dollar or two profit is the way to go but when you look at the general market they are not buying keys all the time. Most of the time they are filling out their collection with the missing issues between keys. If you walk into any store and ask where their money is the majority will tell you that they make their money on the less expensive books (usually below $20) and new off the stands.

You can definitely make money but I always say that you should really just focus on buying what you enjoy (reading). I think if your only interest is making money it can be a hard slog because you may become too focused on the bottom line and numbers and not see that dollars and cents cannot predict a blue chip book and getting in on the ground floor of what will end out being a key is a part of investing. I can't tell you how many of my books that are now worth tens or hundreds of dollars I just bought because I was interested in the character or series and just bought the book without any clue it would catch fire down the road. I have made more money buying what I like than trying to invest.

question about the different values of comics

Oxbladder

Could be that CPG has not researched or adjusted values for this book for some time or could be that the other sites are using third party grading prices or have over estimate values.
