Dropping in value

The collector's buying reading copies have thinned out. Publishers have been selling collected volumes where you don't need to buy the back issues. The whole back issue market has shifted to people buying extremely high grade. Certified grading services have a lot to do with that. I agree - reprinting the 1970's comics in trade paperbacks (Spider-Woman comes to mind), you are now selling "reading" copies against the reprinted issue. Price accordingly.
That said - I do think CPG is low on these comics. Big dealers used to lower low grade 1970's comic stores move them - but I do not see this any more - my LCS $1 and less comics are filled with 1990's comics. Just my view.
The 1970's stuff I see is holding decent $2-$10 for common issues - not any fortune to be made here or anything.
Just my opinion.

I'm not sure it will be put in as a missing issue as the book is already there. There are heaps of books that don't mention they "Came Poly-Bagged". It would have to be mentioned in facts that it "came poly-bagged", Sorry i can't do that but that's the type of info i would love to add one day. For now i would just leave it, Don't think it's worth more anyway.
Hope that helped. This variant edition is listed in other price guides, and it's just not a poly-bagged edition it also came with limited numbered postcard which was only available in the bagged version.
It came with a post card? Noooooo!!!!!!
You can find this item catalogued on "mycomicshop.com" here http://mycomicshop.com/search?tid=111141&pgi=501
I apologize for the sarcasm. This is a very common comic. Since this is Part #21 of "Reign of the Supermen" on sale in 9.4 for about $2, I fail to see how the postcard adds significant value. .So you have to ask yourself - how badly would one want a post card?
It's cool - just not any real value, IMHO.
KDS It's an official variant who cares if it's $1 or $100. I wasn't saying the post card adds value just noting the difference, and pointing out a missing variant of a book.. So you have to ask yourself do you want a complete price guide or not? I actually like to have a complete accurate catalog of all of my books. edited by 1987olds442 on 6/29/2017
If you have it hey - you have it. It is what it is. Not being added at CPG - is it really a big deal? CPG never added my Australian comic ether - must be the low demand...
I do care very much if it is $1 or $100. A variant that has no added value? Why go out of your way to own it? Or catalogue it? Technically I guess you could call it a variant. Realistically - this is re-packing by slapping in a bag and inserting a post card. My cool-o-meter puts this at (minus 5) on a scale of 1 to 10.
Just my opinion.
BTW- most fun discussion I have had on CPG in some time. |

I have several Classics Illustrated starting with #5 Moby Dick, and ending with #76 The Prisoner of Zenda Classics Illustrated are among the most difficult to find on CPG - due to each title being a separate series of comics one having a separate title. (There is no "Classics Illustrated" series).
Another trick is to search for the publisher "Gilberton" instead of searching for the title - this may be easier, as about the only book they published was the classics illustrated comics and variations (Classics Illustrated Junior, etc.)

Advertisements Cut Out Of Books - Effect On Value.

Just noticed the topic "Ad Pages Removed" under the "Comics Grading Tips and Tricks" heading.
So.. 1.0 then when ads are removed?
I believe it depends on what is cut out. If you cut part of the story on the back side of page cut story along with the ad - this is bad.
If it is a small ad on the back cover - technically you may be at 2.0 +/- 0.5. So there is so variation depending on the amount of damage (i.e. lost desirability). This also goes for a small ad or Marvel Value stamp within comics - perhaps 2.0 on this was well. |

Hey! I just did this (on a PC) to make sure it works: 1) Click the My Comic Boxes on the toolbar tab 2) Select the box that you wish to "export" (down arrow on the left) 3) Select Print 4) Don't print it but, convert it to a PDF. I used Adobe.
Hope this helps!
Or you can print to a Microsoft ".xps" Document Writer file if your printing system has this capability. This is still a graphical file, so nothing to get too excited about. edited by kds_comics on 7/11/2017 |

I use it all the time.
The advantage is that at the end of the sale the comic is automatically transferred from the seller's collection to the buyer's collection. A neat feature. |

In-depth questions on buying/selling New Business

Best places to sell comics online are probably Comics Connect http://www.comicconnect.com/
Or Heritage Auctions https://comics.ha.com/
These are heavy hitter auctions - not for most of the run-of-the mill stuff that I have. (But you can buy mine here - http://comicspriceguide.com/cpg-member/kds_comics ) Sorry - got carried away there.
I have heard friends have had good luck selling on comic link as well (http://www.comiclink.com). And now - you can sell direct on Facebook - even CPG sponsored. If you find out how this works, please send me the instructions.
I do not care for eBay to buy or sell comics - just a personal preference. Very hard to know what you are actually buying. My opinion is that is it very hard to convince folks to buy my comics due to risk/reward of being mail order. My eBay experience is that folks will only buy if there is a deep, deep discount - 50% off will not do it on eBay in my experience - you need 75 - 90% off.
Hope this helps a little KDS |

In-depth questions on buying/selling New Business

Forgot the rest of the questions!
• Do people like watching haul or collection videos? -- I have no idea. • Would people care to buy $1 books from a large list that I post? -- I have not had success with that on CPG Classifieds - try it and see. • Would people care to buy more expensive books from a large list that I Post? -- I have no idea. Opinion is just because you post a list of good stuff, does not mean I am buying. Maybe • Would people care to submit a list of books that they need (normal, variant, or holy grails) to me for when I come across them? -- Folks select "want issues" on every CPG issue - you can find them via the issue number "For Sale/Wanted" Tab. • Are people on here looking for hard to find toys, rare video games, funko pops? -- Maybe Site focus is comics - some folks may be into other stuff well. Funko seems very popular. I have #213 myself if anyone wants to message me. • Would people on here like random bulk type lots of newer comics (not the 90’s crap, 2000 or higher)? -- You can get these on eBay or Amazon. You can certainly try them here too! • Are full runs worth putting together? Or sell key issues and bulk the rest? Good question. Is this a "sentiment" question or a "dollars and cents" question? -- Your call. • Would people like to see reviews on comic book stores across the country. (stuff like if they have back issues, newer issues, vintage, how is their pricing, do they carry other non comic stuff like funko or games.)? --- You can see store "ratings" on Yelp, Google Maps and other business sites. Why repeat here? You could try video review. • Would people like to have a connection with their online dealer to find their wants or is eBay just easier? -- I believe dealers put comics on eBay - more for free advertising for their store than to sell comics. A dealer having a brick-and-mortar store does have a physical presence in an ongoing business. This is a tremendous advantage over someone like me (I have a PO Box! Does that count?) (and there is someone to report to the BBB if you have a complaint!)

My opinion is that this is a subsequent re-print by a country outside of the USA or a Photoshop embellishment by the purveyor of this website. Other country reprints of Marvel comics were common. Usually you can tell by the currency on the cover. This one - Canada or Australia maybe?

It is confusing has heck!!! (to keep this conversation PG rated).
As the previous post mentioned, it is really up the the publisher as to whether they abbreviate "Doctor" in the official copyright publication information (i.e. indica).
Dr. Graves or Doctor Graves? Dr. Strange or Doctor Strange? Dr. Mirage or Doctor Mirage?
And then there's Doc Savage... I'd say don't get me started, but I think it is too late...................................................................

I like autographs on comics - makes them unique and personable to have creator sign their work. If Picasso signed one of his items, even if it is a print - values greatly increase.
Comics have more issues printed, so even though it is less unique, it is still cool. Just my opinion.
