RE: Spectacular Spider-Man #223

I could be mistaken, but I believe the correct publication date is April 1995... not 1996.

Spider-Man #60 - UK Edition?

Forgive my ignorance, but is this a UK edition of Spider-Man #60 (July 1996)?

The cover price states "Only $1.50 U.S." And there is a UK price next to the Canadian price. The indicia does state that it was "Printed in the U.S.A." However, I do not find it listed in the Comics Price Guide.

Just curious.

Spider-Man #60 - UK Edition?

pretty sure this is just the regular US newsstand edition. found several online and none said anything about it being a UK edition. (always try a google search or comics.org before you post.) a true UK edition would have the UK price featured, not the US price. CPG is working on adding newsstand editions to the database, so you might be able to submit it as a variant using the 'report missing variant' tab under the Variants tab.

I guess one thing that is confusing me is the cover price of $1.50. According to the CPG page, the cover price was $1.95. Might this be a price variant then?

Many thanks for the response.

Frankenstein Monster (Marvel) - Title Correction

sjo
sjo
Not sure how critical this is, but there might be an error with the
title listing of Marvel's "The Frankenstein Monster" (1973-1975)

https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/frankenstein-monster-the/smut

From issues #1-#5, the cover states "The Monster Of Frankenstein", but the indica states just "Frankenstein".
With issue #6, the cover states "The Frankenstein Monster". But the indica still states only "Frankenstein".
I own only issues only up to #11. But the indica always just states "Frankenstein".

Attached are photos of the covers and splash pages for issues #2 and #6 for reference (I don't have #1).

Hope this helps.

Frankenstein Monster #7 - Dracula appearance

You may wish to consider adding a note that 'The Frankenstein Monster' #7 (Marvel, Nov 1973), has a cameo appearance of Dracula.

https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/frankenstein-monster-the/7/pkqxmq

The last page of the story brings Dracula back to life with the last panel showing him rising from his coffin. This leads immediately into the opening scene in issue #8 and begins the 2-issue Monster vs. Dracula storyline.

Attached is the last page of the story from issue #7 for reference.

You may wish to add a note regarding this being issue #5. While chronologically it is, nothing in the issue states as such. Not the cover or the indica.

In fact, the indica states that it is 'Vol.2, No. 1'.

Naturally, to avoid confusion, it's #5 to everyone else.

ALPHA FLIGHT SPECIAL #2 - Newsstand or Direct?

sjo
sjo
Has anyone else come across this?

I have a copy of Alpha Flight Special #2 with a Direct Edition cover but a UPC sticker physically pasted over the Captain America image box (where a Newsstand Edition’s printed UPC code usually goes). At first I thought this was just a third-party sticker that someone had unfortunately stuck on this copy. But closer examination reveals that the Sticker UPC code is identical to the UPC code printed on an actual Newsstand Edition.

So, did Marvel officially redirect Direct Edition copies to the Newsstand using this method?

And if so, is this considered a Newsstand Edition or a Direct Edition copy?

Or is this some bizarre variant?

Any thoughts?
