In a last ditch attempt to defeat Apocalypse the last of the X-Men and The Human High Council assemble a flotilla of airships, including one loaded with bombs to crash into Apocalypse's headquarters. In order to succeed they need to enlist the help of Gateway, a mutant with the power to open up teleportation holes to get behind Apocalypse's defense lines. Logan convinces the at first doubtful Gateway to help them after showing him a hologram of a little girl whose Apocalypses soldiers had killed in cold blood.

Upon approaching Apocalypse defense lines the allied human/mutant fleet are attacked by Apocalypses fighter ships and a group of modified humans. Wolverine and the rest of the allied fighters manage to stop Apocalypses soldiers but not before they damage the bomb ship. When it seems that there efforts are for nothing Gateway manages to open a teleportation hole big enough for the entire fleet; leading directly for Apocalypses headquarters.
