With the world watching, Galactus demands that Richards returns his ship to him, and allow him to take the Silver Surfer, or suffer the destruction of his home planet. After much debate, and words with the President, Reed turns the ship over to Galactus.
Galactus enters his ship and flies off into space, and but when the Surfer tries to go with him Reed tries to stop him. While Reed battles the Surfer, Thing and the Torch try to keep the army at bay. When the Surfer almost kills Reed, he stops and heals Richards. Reed convinces him that he need no fear Galactus. Getting the aid of Agatha Harkness, Reed is able to contact the President mystically and tell him to call off the army, and has Agatha mystically connect him with every mind on the planet.
Reed assures everyone that Galactus is no longer a threat because while aboard the world-eaters ship, he changed the controls so that Galactus would be transported into the Negative Zone. With the world put at ease, the Surfer leaves needing to get away from the fickle human race.
