Darth Vader Must Die! Part 2 of a 2 part story arc this might be one of the best Star Wars comic of Marvel's early run. Great story, solid art, and just look at the cover! Iconic. The Empire's fascination with planet destroying technology continues as they have built a new weapon even more dangerous than the Original Death Star...the Tarkin! Evidently the Empire did not have Homeland Security in place as the most famous rebels in the Galaxy are able to sneak aboard the massive ship. The Skywalkers almost end up having another family reunion, but this is interrupted by a conspiracy to kill Lord Vader, headed by a group of disgruntled Empire officers who are a little tired of seeing t6heir brothers get forced choked everytime they make the smallest mistake. They attempt to suck Vader out of an airlock (great idea guys, he's basically wearing a space suit!) but fail. Before Vader can hand out his punishment he first needs to hunt down our favorite rebels, which end's up in a Vader vs Falcon showdown in space. The officers seize the opportunity and attempt to fire the Tarkin, with Vaders ship in the weapon's path...only to have the weapon fire on itself. Turns out Leia had artoo program the Tarkin to fire on itself if it was ever used. Once again the Empire's IT department drops the ball and an astromech droid is able to hack their systems. Back in the day this Marvel series was about the only thing we had while we waited 3 years for the next movie. I remember waiting every Month with baited breath to find out what would happen next, and hoping that Vader and Luke would have a showdown. Throughout the run they teased us a lot, because there was only so much they could do between movies. The Marvel team always did a fantastic job, and created some great characters that I think Disney should throw into the new movies (Shira Brie being at the top of that list). This run was always underrated and I hope new fans come back to this one and enjoy some great stories.
