Jack Russell is plagued by nightmares in which he is fighting a silver spiked metallic creature. At the same time his dream includes the vision of Topaz calling for help beckoning him to mysterious castle. The next day Russell visits his stepfather who has just returned from Transylvania. He finds the Russell family summer home in shambles and surmises that the culprits were probably searching for Darkhold. Darkhold is the book which cursed Jack's father and offspring to their horrible fate. Jack's father also learns of a series of deaths that are plaguing the town. The blame seems to fall on a group of Gypsies and a mysterious blonde girl that accompanies them. Jack realizes that his dream is An effort by the blonde girl Topaz to communicate with him for help. Jack announces that he will travel to Transylvania accompanied by his sister Lissa and his friend Buck Cowan. The trio arrives at their destination to find a group of angry villagers in a frenzy to find those responsible for the mysterious murders in town. The villagers head to Russoff Manor in search of the killers. Jack races to the castle to head them off. He fights off the villagers in his werewolf form and he also runs into the ghostly image of Topaz who announces that she has been captured. In the meantime the villagers speculate that the murders are the work of an old Gypsy woman and her followers. Jack the werewolf wanders into the Transylvanian countryside and discovers Topaz locked in a wagoned cage. While setting her free, he is discovered by the Gypsy woman who releases a killer bear equipped with silver claw attachments. The bear and werewolf fight to the death. A group of Zombie Gypsies then emerge from the shadows. One of them hurls a silver knife at the werewolf but the old Gypsy woman steps up and acts as a shield to protect the werewolf. As the Gypsy woman lay dying she announces that Jack Russell is her grandson. It is revealed that her name was Maria Russoff who was seeking vengeance for the murder of her Gypsy friends.
