 Places We Have Never Known
Villains Marionette and Mime agree to help Ozymandias and Rorschach II find Dr. Manhattan. In a flashback, it is revealed that Dr. Manhattan spared the murderous pair during a bank robbery because Marionette was pregnant. Ozymandias believes that seeing her again in costume will remind him of his humanity and help convince him to save their earth.

Ozymandias has redesigned Nite-Owl II’s Owl Ship for “quantum tunneling” and believes he can follow Dr. Manhattan’s unique electron trail across the multiverse. The quartet rides the explosion of a nuclear missile in New York City to shift out of their reality.

They appear in the sky of Earth-1 and crash land on the outskirts of Gotham at a condemned amusement park. Ozymandias and Rorschach II leave Marionette and Mime locked in the Owl Ship, although they later escape. Ozymandias and Rorschach II find a local library to learn more about Earth-1, and split up to talk to the two smartest people on the planet – Lex Luthor and Bruce Wayne.

Rorschach II goes to Wayne Manor, where his detective skills lead him to find the Bat Cave. Ozymandias goes to Lex Luthor’s office where he explains his failed plan to Luthor. Shots ring out of the darkness. One hits Luthor, while Ozymandias dodges the other. The shooter is revealed to be The Comedian.

The additional images at the end of the issue show some computer screens Ozymandias was looking at for research, including stories on the recent controversy on why so many metahumans come from the United States, Bruce Wayne, and Lex Luthor.
