Origin Of The New Blue Beetle

Ted Kord, with his friend Dan Garrett, visits a remote island where his uncle is working, creating androids to take over the world. Garrett changes to the Blue Beetle and battles the horde but is struck down. The island is coming apart, and the scarab is lost. Kord has promised to continue the name of the Blue Beetle but doesn't have the scarab, so he trains and creates his crime-fighting equipment.
