BAD IDEA ... Tankers

I'm struggling for an answer to you because we've repeatedly had this same conversation. It takes time because this one specific book isn't the only thing we have to enter. We enter thousands of pieces of data each week. Small publishers who are going directly to comic shops are extremely difficult to keep track of. So you'll have to be patient or I'll happily refund your money for your membership.

Important Settings Page for Your Account

Ronbatman

I receive a lot of emails and messages from people about their accounts. Most of the time they can solve their own issue IF they knew where to look. I hope this helps.

Go to your profile page. (click on your user name in the upper right and then in the dropdown click on "Account settings")

https://comicspriceguide.com/profile/

From the membership tab, you can cancel your membership. (but why would you do that?)
From the Personal Info tab, you can change your email address
From the Password tab, you can change your password
From the Profile Picture page, you can add an interesting avatar
From the Settings page, you can do all sorts of things

1. Allow others to see your collection, scans, want list or display case. If you don't want members messaging you about a book on your want list, hide your want list from public view.
2. You can set what page is the default when looking at a specific book. It could be the value page or details or variants or your specific issues.
3. You can use your scans for sales
4. You can put your account into vacation mode. That means that you won't have to reenter books when you come back from vacation or from a time away.

Let me know if you have questions,

Ron

This post is literally an announcement for an enhanced benefit for Silver and Gold members. The decrease in free member value changes is driven by all the work involved in what we do. There is a cost in all the labor-intensive work we do. We allow full access to the site for free members, I think that's a great benefit for zero cost

Daredevil #9 Values

I'd like to give the members of our forum some inside information on Daredevil #9, the first appearance of Echo. Paying members can see that the value more than doubled but you don't know the history. So I'd like to share some insights only we have.

This book was cover price from 11/1999 until 2010.

3/2010 - Value went up to $10
4/2019 - Value went up to $12
6/2020 - Value went up to $40
2/2021 - Value went up to $45
3/2021 - Value went up to $100
5/2021 - Value went up to $220

It's pretty crazy, right? Any thoughts on this information?

Swamp Thing 25 NOT Constantine

Issue 25 has two separate cameos based on my research. The first is Constantine in a trench coat with a cigarette. The second is someone in the background who looks like Sting with a striped shirt.

To me, the biggest piece of evidence beyond the appearance is the artist. Alan Moore said that the artists Bissette and Totleben influenced him to create Constantine. They both worked on issue 25 while Rick Veitch worked on issue 37. This is certainly up for debate but that is our stance.
Fun topic,

Gilgandra,
The artists Bissette and Totleben modeled Constantine after Sting but the appearances are independent. There is one panel with Constantine and another panel with Sting in the background wearing stripes. They look similar but you can tell they are different people. To be accurate I would think it should be 1st Cameo Appearance of Constantine - 1st Cameo Appearance of Sting (Harbinger 1 being his 1st full appearance)

This site has pictures of each one.

What do you think Gilgandra?

Buyers Guide for Comics Price Guide

Ronbatman

If you are a buyer on Comics Price Guide, I'd like to offer some suggestions. This is a quick-paced market right now so be alert.

Buying Suggestions
1. We are constantly making changes to prices so if you follow the value change page, you can find deals.
2. Look at the picture and the area below it, some are stock pictures and some are actual scans. If it's a stock picture and the book is more expensive ask for pictures of the front and back.
3. Read the shipping information in the "Terms of Sale" area. Some sellers only ship within their country or only media or accept only Paypal. If you can agree to their terms then make an offer.
4. If you cannot find the book as a Direct version check the Newsstand version.
5. If you decide to make an offer, understand that they have 7 days to let the offer stay in place. In those 7 days, someone else could make a higher offer or they could accept or decline your offer.
6. Declined offers aren't personal attacks and are not to be considered negative. Sometimes the book sold on a different platform or the seller noticed that the book has dramatically risen in value or they cannot find it. There are legitimate reasons for a declined offer.

After Receiving an Accepted Offer
1. You should be contacted about payment. We strongly suggest using Paypal for the transaction to protect both parties.
2. There are two options with Paypal for payment
  • Invoicing - The seller should ask for your Paypal email address (not password), this is normal. They need that to invoice you.
  • Friends and Family - If you know and trust the seller this option will save them fees but they will need your address sent separately

3. After sending payment ask for the tracking number. Good sellers will send this to build trust.
4. Don't ask the seller to send anywhere except for your Paypal address. You can have multiple addresses in Paypal so this is your responsibility if your address changes.

5. If you are happy after receiving the shipment leave feedback for the seller. If you aren't happy, contact the seller and discuss your concerns.

Be kind. We've had some sellers act superior or overly demanding, don't do that. Don't ask them to send to a pressing company or to a grading company. There are forms that need to be filled out for those places and that isn't the seller's responsibility. The above lists are reasonable expectations.

We do track buyers and sellers on the site. We want everyone who buys from one of our premium members to have a great experience. If you have a problem with a seller, try to resolve it with them first. The second step is to involve me, my email is Ron (@) comicspriceguide.com remove the parentheses and spaces.

Information about the forum

We have bought a new forum and are still working with the manufacturer about how to move everything over. I'm not sure how long this will take because it's an extra duty for our programmer. I will keep you updated as things progress. Our goal is for it to be seamless.

We routinely have our competitors and spammers visit our forums and try to act like regular users. Because of that, here are things that will get your post deleted. Please understand that I will not delete your post if you disagree with me. I enjoy good discussions with opposing viewpoints.
1. Naming our online competitors on our forums. It's our forums so we choose not to see their names on it.
2. Harsh words directed at other members. We want everyone to feel welcome.
3. Posting something in the wrong area or duplicate posts. If you didn't repost it, I will move it to the correct forum.
4. Spamming the forum with links to wonderful websites not related to the hobby.

Things you can link to
1. An interesting article about a topic we are discussing. (no competitors) If you have a website that talks about something like UPC's or other topics that's totally fine to link to it in the right discussion.
2. A link to someone else's auction that is interesting on eBay, ComicLink, or Heritage. I've seen some crazy ones.
3. On the auction forum, you can post one link to your auctions.

Most of you are helpful to newbies who ask the same questions. (where are the annuals) Thank you for your help in answering those questions.

This morning I noticed 15 topics that were discussed in the last 24 hours and I started just 2. That's what we want. We want this to be a friendly place where good discussion happen on the usual.
Have a good day,
Ron

If a company says they are a price guide and they are online then they are competition. A list would be dated since they appear and then fade over time. I'm not going to limit it with a list. As a point of reference, we are double the size of the next closest competitor. (who scrapped our site for their data)

It's different for the comic book sales side of things since we don't make anything from sales. So you can post a Heritage, Comic Link, eBay link.

Story Time

Yesterday, I had someone email me and asks for some advice about comics. Nothing unusual about that. Except when he said he found 80 issues from the late '30s and early '40s. I was skeptical but decided to push a little further. I googled his name and he runs a business that picks up junk. Ok, that makes sense how he could find something like that. Then he sent me a picture of All-American Comics 61 and I looked at his collection. The first appearance of Solomon Grundy seemed to be about a 7.0 if I were guessing. He called our offices and we spoke about the best options. I explained exactly what I would do if they were mine and congratulated him on the find.

Think about his, He got paid to haul away, 70 to 80,000 worth of comics. Deals are out there my friend.

Most of the time when people think they hit the jackpot it's something like a reprint of Action Comics 1. This one was legit. Honestly, I was surprised by it.

I would have loved to offer him $10,000 for the books but one of our main mantras is to help regardless of the gain. I probably saved this guy several thousand dollars and he is a free member. We believe the way to attract new collectors is to be welcoming and honest with people.

To answer your question CollectibleShop, our system doesn't tie together the misses with the person who submitted the correct entry. As an admin and employee, I don't nope someone's entry if it's wrong. I delete it, which doesn't show up as a miss. The misses will eventually drop out of sight. Previously they were permanently in your account but we changed that to 6 months. (I think) After 6 months, they will disappear.

We have members submit and approve most pieces of data so mistakes happen.

You posted an ambiguous statement, "any ideas yet?" I don't know what that means so I asked, "Ideas about what exactly sir?"

Is that considered a personal attack?

Behind the scenes, I've sent several messages to our admins asking about this publisher. One of them reached out to the publisher to get a shipping schedule but hasn't heard back. We are trying to fix the lack of communication with Bad Ideas. We've assigned one person to add their titles as they are released. The specific books you mentioned are in the system as well as others.
