Confused About Something

Taskmaster, we've had this discussion before so I won't go into it again.

I've been forwarded messages that you sent to sellers a few times and some were rude or condescending. If you sent me a message like that, I would reject everything you made an offer on too. No one likes to be treated like that.

I'm trying to help you see this from someone else's point of view. If you were more understanding with sellers, more of them would want to sell to you. You buy a lot of comics so they should want you as a customer. If they sold it somewhere else, fine. It's no big deal. It's not worth calling them an _____ or a _______. You burn the bridge that you might want to cross in the future. It's not that deep if they sold a comic somewhere else. Treat sellers with kindness regardless.

Query Collection

Hey,
We talked about your idea in our office this morning and have decided to go forward with it. To preface, I'm not promising a certain date that it will be finished. I am saying that we want to add a feature/page that allows members to search their collection with a series of queries.
Grade, Value, Title, Autographed, Etc.

Our goal is to continually improve the site by adding features and content.

Data Scrappers...again.

We found another data scrapper today. It's incredible how many companies try to steal our data. Do your own work and stop stealing our work!

This is important to the average member because it slows down the site and worsens everyone's experience. Because of the repeated attacks by data scrappers, we will be implementing a limit to the number of searches each day for free members. We are still working through the numbers but there will be limits in the near future. To start we are thinking about 150 searches per day for free members. Going forward this number may drop.

Based on recent sales the highest raw book sold for $40 so we are a little under. I've updated it. All it takes is one YouTube personality to shine a light on this book and it will be worth triple.

Overstreet is crazy high at $145 for that book.

As a premium member, you can submit value suggestions through the site. That is the best way to ask for a change.

Giant size, 100-page, 80-page issues can be pressed but they require special treatment so that the spine isn't crushed. It's a slower process for those issues because you need to be very careful.

In general, graded books are worth more than raw books in higher grades. But we've repeatedly seen raw books going for more than graded books with issues like this.

We don't claim to understand why but it is the current reality.
If someone is looking for a raw book they might not even check the prices on a graded version because they think they will be higher. Sometimes they aren't.

Superboy 9

Superboy 9 went up again in value and we noticed that a seller had it for $10. Upon looking at his or her account they haven't logged in since last year. I've put all their auctions into vacation mode so that they aren't visible. If you were one of the many people asking about that book or trying to get it. It's not happening from that seller. We will continue to watch for inattentive sellers and take their listing from the site.

Feature request - Sales and want lists addition

One of the things that we would like to do this year is to totally rework the sales system. We want to make it easier for sellers and buyers but maintain security. There are several good ideas in this post, that we will consider as we move forward on this.

If you would like to attach a link to eBay please do it without an affiliate link.

You can post a link to eBay, that's totally fine. It's the eBay affiliate link that frowned on. It's not a big deal, just post your link. I wish you all the best in selling them.

Magic Pack

Yesterday, Boom Studios released a new Magic #1. One of the options is a 4 pack of comics. We have listed it as a "collector's set" since it has multiple issues in the polybag. It isn't listed with the regular issues but in the tab called collector's set just like an annual or ashcan. I'm letting you know to help you find it later.

Any kind of packaged issues could be organized like this. As most of you regulars know, whenever we put books into different categories newbies have trouble finding them. This is a two-edged sword.

Let's go ahead and end this back and forth arguing. I don't really want to delete this thread but if it continues from this point on, I will.

Key Issues List

Key issues are marked on the site, with a key. (appropriately enough) We do not have a list of key issues since that would be massive. What I would suggest is trying this.

1. Go to a title like X-men. Click off "show variants"
2. Scroll down the list for anything that says, "1st Appearance of..."

Comics going up in price

To get a price update go to the issue and submit a value change suggestion. Suggesting a change on the forum goes around all the people who have already submitted changes through the system. I'm not trying to be harsh or mean just to be fair with all of our members.

The values for virtually all comics are going through the roof. I personally have never seen a market like this and I lived through the death of Superman back in the day.
