One of the Hernandez Brothers spelled wrong
iron_puppy
|
I'm working on entering some 80's comics and the Hernandez Brothers are quite prominent. I wondered why Gilbert was listed but not Jaime... it's because on CPG it's listed as Jamie Hernandez, which is incorrect. Is there a way to correct this? I never heard anything when I pointed out that John Totleben was listed with 2 t's but he only has one so maybe it's too much for the data base. Passing it along anyway. |

WECA, or CANADIAN WHITES, Price Guide published
iron_puppy
|
Ok, now that some CANADIAN collectors and researchers (including a senior advisor to Overstreet-there was an article about this a few years ago) have just published the first price guide of it's kind maybe CPG will finally take the sites undervaluing these books more seriously. These books are scarce and sought after by more and more Canadian collectors (They were not generally distributed in the US as just as American books could not be shipped to Canada during the war, the same was true the other direction as well) and as a result I'm not surprised by this, but here is evidence others are trying to correct this. As it's a first edition, they acknowledge the prices will need fine tuning, but they are far more reflective of prices being realized in the market place that what is on this site.
Here is the guide information for you to find a copy...

Sandman Mystery Theatre info
iron_puppy
|
Last night I was adding more creators for the Sandman Mystery Theatre series and I realized I added GuyDavis as artist for issues 45-47 but it wasn't. I went to delete my info but the series didn't appear in the "to be done" area. I just went to check it now if it just needed time and all the creators are done! Great on whoever got all that done, but it didn't give me a chance to correct my error since the system wouldn't let me find my data. I just don't want negative glitches on my rating. That's how I already have one and I don't want more!
Please remove Guy Davis from those issies. It is really Matthew Smith (not a Doctor) who did the art. Not even sure if he's in the system as I haven't tried putting him in yet.
Cheers!

House Of Mystery photo doesn't match price

I was just doing some "price guide" help, verifying some cover prices and noticed the listing for validating the cover price for House of Mystery 309 says it should be 60c, but the photo listed with it is the Canadian 75c price variant. I know you are trying to list more variants so thought I'd point this out. |

Spy Fighters from the 1950s

Attached is the cover for my copy of Spy Fighters #25. This is an intersting issue in a few ways. FIrstly, it's published by Bell Features, so it's the Canadian version, not the Marvel/Atlas. This means all the US advertising is either blanked-out completely or just the sections about where to send money/address. Secondly, according to Overstreet the Marvel/Atlas series only ran 15 issues, so this doesn't correspond with the original numbering. I can't check to see what issue it might correspond to as Spy Fighters is not currently listed at all on CPG. Anyone have any original ones to have listed? |

Thanks! Not sure why the title didn't pop up when I tried to find it. But yes, there is the Marvel/Atlas title. That being said Bell Features/Commercial Signs should be listed as a Canadian publisher, not an American one. That should be changed for this title. |

Halifax Explosion giveaway comic

Attached is the cover for "The Halifax Explosion" giveaway comic. They have the "True North Comics" logo at the top and inside say that is a trademark of McLelland & Stewart INC. It also says it was a giveaway at McDonalds and was one of four comics to come out. I only have this one. All were historical in nature (for those of you who don't know the Halifax explosion was the largest man-mde explosion before the era of the nuclear bomb) Forgot to say that the only indication of year is a 1997 copyright statement. Because they are comics not listed on CPG. That's what the heading is for this Forum right? Not just American comics but from all over the world? What kind of question was that? |

That appears to be it. I wouldn't have looked under True North as the title. Thanks! Also, I'm not sure why, but my picture is upside down... I swear it was right side-up! edited by iron_puppy on 2/5/2019 |

I did a quick search for the Captain Canuck Summer Special title and I found it, but on the "all countries" search as Chapater House is listed as a UK publisher. It should be under Canada. The other Chapter House comics are all under Canada.
I know the sales are limited, but at least it can be found now.
Thanks for getting them listed! |

Hello Ron! I think this sounds great! What kinds of links do you want? I mean, I understand not wanting links to other guides, but it really means links to auction results or sold prices from other sites, correct? You won't accept just listing prices, but actually sold prices. Are there any other sources you had in mind?
