You have a silver membership which allows you to enter 300 books. Your collection currently has more than that. The Gold membership is unlimited and only $50/year or less than a $1/week. Ron |

You had two separate transactions. The first was for silver monthly at $5 and the second was the prorated amount for the silver yearly at $25. I've refunded both charges.
Your account will only show 50 books now since you are a bronze member. R |

Defiant1, you've got some lofty goals. Good for you. I had the chance on Tuesday to buy a stack of Treasury-sized books. I didn't buy them because I was running out of time with a city-wide curfew approaching. This guy had probably 20 different ones that he inherited from his grandfather. I remember a Hulk one, Conan, Superman/Spiderman, Spiderman. They were cool |

When you're approaching 1.1 million books in the database mistakes happen. If you send me an email I will research it and correct it. Flip books are funny because we get people saying we don't have them listed all the time. |

Data Screen Scrapers
RonbatmanAdministrator
|
Recently we've been overrun with people trying to scrap our data. It starts when someone has an idea to create a rival price guide so they hire a service to steal our data. Because who would want to enter 1.1 million books into a database manually like we've done? It's too much work.
You might wonder why you should care. Well, the scrappers slow down the site because they are hitting the database relentlessly. So your experience is worse because of a thief. We take this very seriously and shut them down as we find them. If you're thinking about it, please don't, it's stealing.
This is what we do behind the scenes to make sure that our members have a great experience. Ron

No main/base issue for Spectacular Spider-Man #125
RonbatmanAdministrator
|
The Spectacular Spider-man issue is fixed now.
We are going through the database to correct inconsistencies related to A and B covers, especially related to Newsstand and Direct. All of this is driven by our free app that reads UPC, so we need both versions.
This is our official stance related to Newsstand and Direct issues and the reason.
If a book is a modern book (1992 on) the Direct version is the A cover or the main cover. If the book is Bronze or Copper the Newsstand version is the A cover or the main cover.
The reason for this is related to production numbers. When Direct versions first came out in the Bronze age they were scarce, most issues sold were newsstand. This is how people bought their comics back then. Over time the roles started reversing and newsstand issues became more difficult to find. Our goal is to put the most common book as the main cover.
The switch to more direct version copies happened before 1992 but we wanted the break to be clear for everyone to see. We have one person whose only job is to add Direct and Newsstand issues, UPC numbers, and fix A and B inconsistencies. You can see what he just finished with Fantastic Four near the end of the run. https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/fantastic-four/smpy If a newsstand isn't listed he couldn't find an image for it online.
I hope that helps. R |

Anyone successful at selling on CPG?
RonbatmanAdministrator
|
John, If you are entering the books with the grade, it's very easy to sell them here. One button. Fill in the price and shipping and you're done.
Your success is based on the number of books listed, price and their desirability. We've had people say that they live off the money they get from CPG sales. One comic shop in Phoenix started here first and then opened a storefront. The amount of money that will go directly into your pocket versus eBay really adds up. Give it a try, you have nothing to lose. Ron |

We just tried it and the system is working fine. So we can do a couple of things. You can send us one of the files and we can check it or try to upload it. Secondly, sometimes a file is corrupted for some unknown reason and you have to start new. Use my name Ron @ (comicspriceguide.com) without the spaces or parentheses |

Bulk Importing Comic collection
RonbatmanAdministrator
|
Eric, There isn't a way to import a collection but there are ways to quickly add books.
1. The In-depth Way Go to the title - like Guardians of the Galaxy https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/guardians-of-the-galaxy/pkqthu Then click into a specific issue, like #1 https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/guardians-of-the-galaxy/1/pktscqu At the top there are four tabs click the "My collection" tab. You can add the book and fill in all sorts of details. After that don't forget to click the green button at the bottom
2. The Fast Way Go to the title - like Guardians of the Galaxy https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/guardians-of-the-galaxy/pkqthu Click the green button to the right of every issue you have. You will see green text appear on the left that says "You own 1 issue"
3. Super Fast Way Go to the title - like Guardians of the Galaxy https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/guardians-of-the-galaxy/pkqthu On the lower right side you will see a button that says "add run". So if you own 1 through 50 you can add them all in a few seconds.

Dal1283, no listing fees no selling fees Yes, it's a sale between you and the buyer. However we have stepped in to help resolve problems before. Paypal is our recommended way. $5 is normal shipping for raw books

Yesterday, I posted a blog post about Miles Morales with search data from CPG and pricing data back to 2015. This is a different kind of blog post for me so I'm curious if you fine comic book folks like this sort of information.

I also talk about it on CPG's Instagram if you would rather hear me talk about it. I wore my Spider-man shirt for the occasion. https://www.instagram.com/comicspriceguide/

We are gathering more and more data each year and trying to determine how to best use it. For example, I wrote a blog post on Miles Morales recently with the number of searches each month for the last 2.5 years and the value for the last 5 years. Right now, we are just playing with the data.
There is a hot list on the front page that we change quite often but it's not the level that you're looking for.
