I found a listing that had several stories shown so I think it meets the qualifications of 50% comic content.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Phase-1-Magazine-Ken-Barr-Wrightson-Kenneth-Smith-Kelly-1971/264698004007?hash=item3da13b0227:g:BA4AAOSwmO5ek3ds

just added it.

So you all know who I am since I'm on the site everyday. I'd like to get a little traction on my eBay and CPG listings.

I have around 150 listings on CPG and 14 on eBay so far. Here are the highlights on Ebay, Morbius 1-8 and 18, Thor 390, Crisis on Infinite Earths, Secret Wars 8, Zeck Amazing Spiderman issues. I have 10 or 12 boxes of books that I'd like to sell so if you're looking for old Batman, Detective or just about any Amazing Spiderman issues after 40 I might be able to help. (Issue 300 is currently at CGC)

Donald,
First let me say, congrats on an amazing Batman collection if you're looking for just 1-9 and 85. I know how long it took me to build a collection from 171 to 713. Bravo.

With Batman I start at issue 258 (100 page giants)
With Detective I start at issue 321(November 1963) thru 568
With Amazing Spiderman I start at 49 thru 363
Full run of Savage She-hulk and Warlock and the Infinity Watch. Both have big potential

For regular issues and variants sent through Diamond Distribution we know what's coming out. We add between 6 - 8000 books per month to the site.

For artist exclusives and store exclusives we rely on members to tell us about them, since there isn't a record of their release. (Report missing variant button) As you go through the lists of exclusive variants there are about 700 different stores and artists who have exclusives. There's not enough time for us to look at all 700 options each month to see if they released something.

Helpful Advice for Buyers on CPG

Ronbatman

Let's suppose you are checking out the values of comics on CPG and you notice a book that you need for your collection. You make an offer on the book and the seller accepts it.

Then the seller says, "Just Venmo me the money."
While that seems like a good choice, it isn't. Do not Venmo sellers on the site payment unless you personally know them. The app should only be used with people you know and trust. If you never receive the book Venmo will not help you.

Use Paypal.
Paypal has purchase protection for buyers. That means they can put a hold on your money and you can get your money back.

Some artists and writers had books like you mention. Sometimes they were called file copies. If you know the artist or can prove the story somehow, then you have book that people might pay a premium to get.

If you cannot substantiate the story, it's just a story. Think about it like this, how easy would it be to counterfeit this stamped book? Super easy. Anyone could buy a stamp and make a limitless supply of these books.

Understand that I'm not doubting you or accusing you, I'm thinking about it logically as a collector would. It's a cool thing to have.

Why do you think the second one is a volume and not a mini-series? Do you have any of those issues? If so, what does the indicia say? (small print usually inside the front cover)

Please don't post links to other price guides.

The best way to tell us about a variant is to submit it through the system. Just go into the specific issue

https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/mercy/1/pkysipx

Then submit it through the variant tab (Red button at the bottom)

Has the original art supplanted the comics?

Ronbatman

First of all, can you post more on the forums? I've enjoyed reading something other than "add this book" post.

To me, these two things aren't mutually exclusive. I own some original art for characters I really enjoy, obviously Batman is number one for me. Because of the price, original art can be restrictive. I've found pieces that I really like for $100 with that same money I could buy roughly 25 comics. Which do you choose? As you mentioned, a $19,000 original art cover weighed against $19,000 in comic spending. If you really love the artist maybe the original art is worth it. If you love first appearances maybe the comic book purchases are your first choice.

Another important element that is often overlooked is that comics are the hotbed of new show and movie ideas. If you would have told me 10 years ago that Witcher, The Boys, Umbrella Academy would have shows on television, I would have laughed at you. Comic readers know before the general public what's going on with shows and movies because we've already read the book. For that reason alone, I think comic books are here to stay.

To answer your question to me, yes I did see that Doug's collection is coming to auction. Doug was a prolific writer, no doubt.

One of the good things about this hobby is that you can customize your experience. You can collect raw books or graded or signed books or graded signed books, or original art or a specific style or artist or writer or title or character or... It is interesting how collections are formed and to see what the emphasis is. Over the years, I've bought several collections or pieces of collections and there are always interesting finds in each one. The most common is collecting a title or character. In the future, I think this will change to a specific artist because people are spending a lot of money on variants or to just key issues. It's all good

Before the Death in the Family series (Batman 426-429) Jason Todd was obnoxious. Whining, stealing tires, maybe killing someone, basically a punk. When issue 428 came out with a number in the back to vote whether he lived or died, I wanted to vote for death. Somehow I forgot to call and never cast my vote to make him worm food. Go back and read those issues prior to 426 and you'll understand why he was so hated.

Doctor Who Graphic Novel #19
or
Doctor Who: The Blood of Azrael
