Price changes that you think need to be made

In my continuing efforts to get CPG to update the terrible prices for Canadian Whites, here's another one... Comiclink auction just ended (March 6th) for Active Comics #21 (1945, Bell Features). the comics is a CGC 7.5. CPG listed value? $96.10 Selling price for the issue? $1210.00. There is just a little difference there.
Again, here is the link...

Not sure why my last post is under guest... I think I took to long to type, but it still said I was logged in... Oh well, it was me.
On to another book... Richard Dragon: Kung-Fu Fighter #5, first Lady Shiva. I won't give a price but it can be seen that it is going for well over CPG listing price.

Giant-size spider-man should not be under amazing

I just tried to find info on the 1970's Giant-size spider-man I picked up (#4) and it is only under Amazing Spider-man, then the sub-heading of giant size. Nowhere in the title of inside the cover does it say Amazing spider-man. The page 1 description is "Giant-Size Spider-Man... Vol 1 #4 (or which ever it is). Many other titles do come up under giant size, others under a parent title. There should be more consistency. |

Wonder Woman 34 Canadian Edition from 1949

Ok, After giving up on figuring how to translate that information about how to link a picture (I have a few posted a year ago that still have to be looked at, so I may re-send them if get a more clear tip on how) here is a Canadian edition of the 1949 issue #34 of Wonder Woman. It differs in that it says "published in Canada" on the top instead of the month, and the bottom left side has only a slanted rectangle where the US edition has a "give blood" promo. My copy may be in rough shape, but it's the only one I've seen and CPG has no Canadian editions of Wonder Woman listed, so who knows!

Thanks for the info. The comic itself doesn't say "Simcoe Publishing", so that's good to know! It just says by DC Comics inside, but that it's printed in Toronto. Overstreet only lists Canadian comics if they had US distribution. As these editions were printed exclusively for Canada they only had Canadian distribution. That's why "Superior" publishing comics are in Overstreet but Bell Features, "AA", Maple Leaf are not. |

Not sure how long you want to keep this thread going... Another books that is gaining attention (slowly, and long ignored) is Green Lantern Corps 201 (first Kilowog). I always liked the character so I'm glad he's getting noticed. |

Wonder Woman 7 & 9 wrong everywhere for Cheetah

Ok, I think this will be tested in the months to come with Cheetah set to appear in the next Wonder Woman, but the listings on CPG, in Overstreet and in CGC labels are not correct. Being like many people I sought out Wonder Woman issues 7 and 9 for Cheetah, but I actually read them. Barbera Minerva appears in issue 7, but she IS NOT Cheetah yet. Issue 9 has her transform for the first time into the Cheetah after further rituals.
So,... Issue 7, First appearance of Barbera Minerva and part origin issue 9, full origin and first appearance of the Cheetah (It's also the first time Minerva and Wonder Woman meet)

Creators

I'm surprised to hear there is no back log of creator's to be confirmed, as I have many I've been waiting to be confirmed for around a year. Did they get lost with the system change? I have put a few names on the list since, so they should be there too. I did ask a while ago about the new system when we submit a creator for approval... before it said something like "thank you , your creator has been added to the queue", but now it just kicks me back to the comics page with no way of knowing if it went anywhere.
Anyway, a short list of the names I'm waiting to be approved are: Moebius (Jean Giraud), can't believe he's not here!, Kent Burles, Peter Hsu, and Jim Sommerville (smaller artists and writers from Aircel and Adventure comics in the 80's, but I can't complete the information without them)
I also sent in a name correction a long time ago for John Totleben, mostly a DC artist whose name is on the creator list with two t's. Even if you don't have a comic with his work to see inside, his name is spelled on the covers usually quite clearly. Check his run of Swamp Things...

Eerie #5 1952 Canadian edition

As I was checking to see if this issue was listed, I noted that under the regular US Avon edition under the "DETAILS" section it says Sid Check did the cover, but on the main information part is says Wally Wood. Which is it?
Ok, anyway, this issue has the same cover as the regular edition, but the publisher information says "Published bi-monthly by Avon periodicals, Inc., 575 Madison Ave.," but also, printed in Canada" with all advertising for Canadian companies. No blank or "covered" ads, like some Canadian editions. I did a scan of the back cover to show what I mean...
Well, I have the scans but can't get them to attach.
I have written a few times to get help understanding the "help" to attach files, but have yet to get any.
Anyone? It was so much simpler before... Now, sometimes things work, but usually I get get pissed off at the time it takes.

Well, the back cover has appeared but not the front. That may not matter as it's the same as the regular Avon #5. Do you need it anyway? |

Red Ryder Comics (DELL, Canadian editions)

Here are two Canadian editions of Red Ryder. They are typical in reprints of the time in that they have blank interior covers. Neither comic has any ads other than the Dell one on the back cover. The covers have the same picture as the US editions except for these changes: These have "Canadian Edition, and the month in the top right corner and other text has been removed from the picture.
Red cover is #82, Yellow cover is #78. Issues numbers are printed on the back covers with the publishing information: "Red Ryder Comics No. 78, February 1950. Published Monthly by The Wilson Publishing Company of Toronto, Limited by arrangement with K.K. Publications Inc., " Number 82 says June 1950.
Hopefully they get added. I seem to have to "send" the message before I know if they're attached... |

Ok, Here is the Canadian edition of Daredevil #68. The cover is the same picture as the regular #68 except the month above the issue is removed and the text in the middle between picture and title has been changed to show the different publisher (SDD on this edition).
The back cover has an ad for some toys to be ordered from Montreal. I don't know what the original has.
The information inside the front cover is: "Daredevil Comics, No 68. Published monthly by Superior Publishers Ltd., 2382 Dundas St W., Toronto... by special arrangement with Lev Gleason Publications, Inc.
ok, it won't add this scan. It's under the size but I'll see what I can do and get back... |

So, even though they say published in Canada by a Canadian company they are the American comics? I think they are different enough they should be listed under the publisher, as other comics, which clearly inside the cover or first page says Canada. The links you sent are still under an American publisher. I'm not concerned about the value, just that they are listed where people can find them. I tend to look under the country listed inside the comics. |

Even if the decision is made to list them with the regular Dell comics these would be variants, as both interior and cover are different and should have that noted. |

For the annuals, search the title ("Grimm Fairy Tales"...), then select the series you want (for your annuals I'm guessing volume 1) and under that you will have the option for monthy, annuals, giant size, whatever the different issues that have been entered for that series. They may not all be there but it should get a few off your list. |

When CPG is trying to be the most accurate site that should mean pictures of all the different covers, both new monthly ones and the old ones? That's all I'm trying to do. Where they ultimately go is up to the site, but as they say Canadian Edition on the cover that is a legitimate way to distinguish them. As a Canadian collector I've decided to get the editions printed here so I'm just sharing what I find.
Doesn't my having it posted mean I'm asking Admin? |

This latest series from IDW (the 2011 monthly series) has 4 different covers, one for each character, but all go for well over the cover price listed on the site. Ebay aside I have not seen one go for less than $40 and seen asking prices closer to $100. Please check to confirm what new price you feel is appropriate. |
