I will be at C2E2 in Chicago on Friday, if you would like to meet. Just send me a message here on CPG and I'll try to connect. Who knows I might have a special offer in my hands for people that find me.
If you don't know my face, go to our Instagram and watch our videos. Most videos are me but a few feature Brytney, for some reason those are more popular. It makes perfect sense to me because she looks more like a beautiful comic book character. Anyway...
Meet me at C2E2 on Friday, I'll be in a CPG jacket probably in Artist alley. Ron |

Thank you to all the artists, creators, dealers, cosplayers and fans that we talked with. It's good to see your faces. It's good to hear your thoughts on how to improve the site and the excitement with the new app.
Special thanks to Uko Smith for the great Wolverine piece we will be giving away. In a pickle comics for being one of a few dealers with reasonable prices. (I saw multiple other dealers buying his stuff) Ashly Lovett for describing your new book with the hauntingly beautiful art. Stuart Sayger for the friendly welcome and allowing us to take pictures of your exclusive comics for our site and app Koi Turnbull for being such a humble guy, working hard to be the best artist. I hope your wife talked you into turning in the Marvel Talent application.

We are doing another contest on Instagram. It's very easy to participate in and you could win a gorgeous piece of original Wolverine art. https://www.instagram.com/comicspriceguide/
Secondly, I'd like to ask you to check out my latest blog post on Len Wein. I spent a ton of time researching it and developed a sincere appreciation for Len. Always a fan of his work on Swamp Thing, now I'm his fan too.

Communication is so vital to the buying and selling process. Sending pictures is especially beneficial when you're not sure of the grade or if it's an expensive book. We want both parties to be happy with the transaction. Good advice Xamial. |

The issue with calling it a variant is that anyone can make their book look like yours, they just remove pages. I would call it a production error. Still, it's a cool little quirky book. |

This is the criteria that we use. The book has to be at least 50% comic book. Which means it tells a comic book story.
Not a comic strip.
So if a coloring book is an uncolored comic book, then it would be eligible to be added to CPG.
Defiant1, I don't think our stance is "ridiculous to exclude things". I understand why you want it in the database but the exponential growth of adding comic-related items is off the charts. There are millions and millions of comic-related items, toys, books, stuffed animals, cards, statues, action figures, posters, movies, records, puzzle books, Hot Wheels, original art, Funko pops, etc. 1 million comics is more than enough for us. There is an opportunity for someone with time and money to create what you want but I'm not sure that it would be financially prudent. |

According to my research, Classics Illustrated books weren't called that until 3/1947. Prior to 1947, they were called Classic Comics. People on eBay constantly mislabel these books as Classic Illustrated but that was later. Do a search for "Classic Comics" and I'm sure you will find what you're looking for if the book is actually from 1944 and not one of the many reprints.
Always check the indicia which is the small text inside the front cover. Ron |

We don't upload any book until it has been released to the public. Some times books are delayed or canceled so we try to be safe with our additions.
Lately, we have tried to be increasingly more specific with how we label variants. Because there are so many now we differentiate between printings, variants and exclusives. It's our way of better organizing the site so that members can find things better. Ron |

Hot Comics from a Different Perspective

A lot of people comment on hot comics and you never know what it's based on. We did a thing here at CPG. For a long time we've been tracking how many times a book is searched for and specifically looked at. Now, I'm making a few of those stats available to see if anyone is interested in them.
Can you guess what is the most searched for comic book of 2020? What about the top 5 books in the last 5 years? What about the highest rising books on our search list?
If you're interested, check out the new blog post

The method that you mentioned is currently the only way to see what's gone up or down in your collection. You can go to the recent value change page to see from a general sense what's gone up and down.
We have talked about giving an alert but it's fairly complicated. It's a great idea that we want to do but I cannot give a definite time table for it. |

Hot Comics from a Different Perspective
RonbatmanAdministrator

I broke them down into 3 groups because that best suited the data in my mind.
Comics that broke into the top 250 searches or rose dramatically - i.e. Savage She-Hulk 1 New books that garnered tons of attention - i.e. Batman 89 Reliable books that are always in the top of the list - i.e. Amazing Spider-man 300
If I give you only the top 25 you cannot see some of the books coming up or some of the hot new books. The basic list isn't very clean. For example, we have been working toward adding all the direct and newsstand issues into the site. That means that older search data is different from 2020 search data. Instead of one ASM 300 getting 1000 views, now Direct gets 700 and Newsstand might get 400.
Let me see what I can come up with to help people understand this better for future blog posts. R edited by ronbatman on 3/13/2020 |
