Welcome aboard Robert! You'll enjoy the site (I know I do). I check the forum everyday before work to see what is happening, check to see what I have in my collection that has gone up (or down - booo!), and every week or so I'll try and help verify data. On Wednesdays, I make sure to catalogue my new comics and add any missing info (ie. creator's info, cover price/publication date) if it hasn't already been added. Occasionally, I'll submit a cover scan if needed. Believe it or not, I have scanned about 99% of my collection (some 2200 comics) into the system, and therefore it is an accurate reflection of my true collection. In the future, if I decide to sell here on this site, the actual scans will be in the system - not stock images.
The whole thing can be quite addicting.

I think that the scan for Immortal Hulk 16 second print Alex Ross cover should be the one that has "It's Joe" on the cover, which is currently shown for the Joe Bennet Wraparound Cover printing. Hope that makes sense... |

Let me start out by saying that I am a big fan of ComicsPriceGuide. I log on everyday and enjoy the features, but since the newest update, the way it looks on my screen looks different and a little strange. When I look under the Gains/Drops tab and the My latest additions tab, the comics look like they are in a landscape type proportion, rather than a comic book 3:4 type vertical ratio. They are squished. Confusing, I know. I can't adjust the ratio or the box this info appears in. It is probably just my stupid old laptop or something, no big deal, just sayin'... It could also just mean that I am computer illiterate.

With the Dylan Brock interest, I seems that Venom 7 and 9 are selling for a bit more than cover. I am sure when/if you know what happens, the price will take off, but even now, they are selling for over cover.

Silver Surfer Vol 1 price discrepancies

I have been doing some research on the value of the early Silver Surfer Vol 1 books, more specifically CGC graded ones in the higher grades. There seems to be a bit of a discrepancy between your listed values and the research I have done (using GoCollect and Ebay sold listings). Fair Market Value research shows the value of these comics are on the rise.
Silver Surfer 1 Graded 8.0 listed at $672 on CPG is selling for $1600 on ebay these days. SS1 CGC grade 8.5 on Comics Price Guide (CPG) listed at $998 vs $1750 in the market place. SS1 CGC 9.0 listed at $1523 on CPG vs $2600 FMV on GoCollect and recent ebay sold listings. SS1 CGC 9.2 on CPG $2150 vs $3600.
Silver Surfer 3 CGC 8.0 is listed at $168 on this site (the same as a non-graded copy I believe) vs $475 FMV on GoCollect and on recent ebay sold listings. SS3 CGC 9.0 on CPG $380 vs $1000. Copies of Silver Surfer 3 in CGC 9.2 listed at $537 on CPG are selling for $1500 on ebay. Mephisto!
Silver Surfer 4 CGC graded books are up as well.
I have also done some research on our friend Norrin Radd's first appearances (and Galactus of course) in Fantastic Four 48, 49 and 50. The same applies. Especially in FF49, which looks like it seeing a pretty steep rise in prices in graded form. I can send you some more examples if you like. Just trying to be helpful and not annoying.

When contributing to the CPG database, we have HITS, MISSES and PENDING submissions. I love contributing, but I have made a handful of mistakes along the way. These happened a few years ago, and mostly because I couldn't figure how to undo an incorrect submission at the time and because of slips of the finger (oops!). Alas, every time I go that section I am reminded of my MISSES. Those same five MISSES are right there staring me in the face for months and months and months. Is there any way to have them disappear after a year or two...? Just sayin'. For my own fragile ego and peace of mind (laughing).

This feature could be a great tool, but as mentioned above, does this mean that you are looking for ebay sold listings almost exclusively? Also, if a book seems to have gone up and is selling for more that is listed in this guide, do we submit a different link for each grade? I see that we can can suggest value changes for more than one grade (which is great), but how do substantiate this with only one link? |
