Brunner is a comic legend; I still don't have any of his art.
An Olivia watercolor is pretty amazing. One of the all time top cheesecake artists. Next you need to find something by Vargas.
Actually, one of my biggest regrets as far as buying art was passing on a Manara piece. It was a red riding hood storyboard piece for a TV ad. I had the money, I just didn't want to allocate $1000 to it. I had other things going on and I didn't want to sacrifice on the daily things.
I'm cheap, so I tend to migrate towards preliminary art pieces. They are more affordable and if your interest is in just having a piece by the artist, you get their raw pencils, not an inked interpretation. Buying the Olivia piece helped me get a price break on the Mayhew piece. Artists want to be associated with other respected artists. When I told him I bought the Olivia piece, he said he could negotiate on his prices.

I have a really large collection of Treasury Sized Comics. I'll periodically buy the new ones if I see them just to keep my Treasury collection growing. I rarely read the new ones. I'm not a fan of Walking Dead, so that has nothing to do with my reason for buying it. I just like the format and variety of content.
Some of these images are stitched and may have minor flaws because I did it manually, rather than using automated software.
Image Comics
Brass Folio Edition #1
Masterplasty #nn
This is very thin. It's larger than most treasury comics. It's much like a tabloid.

I'll post more. I just need to get the image paths located. Those were some that I'd posted more recently. These are oversized and most scanners are unable to scan the full image. That's why many of the scans will be stitched images from 2 passes with my oversized document scanner.

Here was another couple of Treasury-Sized Comics I bought today.
Giant-Sized Artist's Proof Edition: Huck #1
Image Giant-Sized Artist's Proof Edition: The Walking Dead #100
My scanner is about dead. I had to work on it about 8 times to get the wand to return to the start position. It's leaving a streak down one side now. Mustek oversized document scanners have a flaw in that over time, the ribbon cable starts twisting up and blocking the scan wand from returning to it's home position. They are easy to take apart, but they need something to keep the cable straight.

A guide will list it for the same price as the regular version, but I'd definitely set my own price is I was selling it. I'd probably price it double and let people know the history of it as you have done here. Since people don't know about it or it's history, that hurts the demand for something like this. Price is contingent upon available supply and demand. There is no extra demand if people don't know it exists. You can spark a demand by publicizing it on message boards to other collectors. Posting a high quality scan would help. Signatures are generally viewed as flaws since it's writing on a book. Signatures can be forged. Even though it's considered a flaw, it would not hurt the price if a collector is wanting the signatures that are on this one. People who want signatures and trust that it is genuine will pay extra. Whatever amount that you are willing to accept to part with it is immediately going to be the price since there aren't any others for sale. That's the cool thing about owning really obscure comics. edited by Defiant1 on 1/15/2017 |

As a quality inspector who inspects incoming material for a large electrical/electronics manufacturing company, I don't know if it's possible to "over do" protective packaging. I've pretty much quit buying comics online because so many people don't know how to protect them. For some reason, individuals who ship things are unaware that delivery companies literally throw their packages and let them impact hard surfaces like a concrete floor. They stack 70lb boxes on your package and are only concerned with getting their job done as quickly as possible. A "Fragile" label on the box means nothing to them.

Hero Initiative is not a retailer. It is an organization to assist comic creators that may have fallen on hard times. This sounds like a special printing just for them. |

OK, so I had NO idea they still make Treasury-sized comics these days. Thanks.
Marvel has recently begun publishing treasury sized comics again. I know of two, Boom! and Image have been publishing oversized B&W "artists proofs" or "pen & ink" series to spotlight the B&W art. Image & IDW have been producing oversized color reprints of certain color comics in an oversized format. IDW appears to be slowing down. Most shops only order these if the get a pre-order out of PREVIEWS from their customer. It is unusual to see these on the shelf at most comic store in my area. I am able to find them at one specific shop that does order shelf stock. |
