X-Cellent - A Review

|
So I've never read a single issue of X-Static or X-Cellent before. Picked up issue 2 of X-Cellent for the spec (first appearance Billy McMullen).
Gotta say, that book is pure garbage. The art itself is, I guess okay. Not great, but I can get over it. The writing is trash though. For some reason, every single character stutters at the beginning of practically every other line of dialog. Seriously. I-I'm n-not lying. It's really a-annoying. There's more ways than a stutter to portray nervousness, fear or excitement. Just looked up the writer. Peter Milligan. I personally haven't heard of him, but he's done a handful of books, some of them flagship titles (Batman, Detective Comics, X-Men). Not sure if he was better back in the day, but this was simply horrible. |

selling books where is the shipping cost ?

Just remember though, most comic books can't legally be shipped Media Mail. The exception is if they don't have any advertising for anything other than other comic books. Most TPB are okay since they typically don't contain ads. I'm not sure how often the USPS inspects or enforces the rule, but it does exist. |

@Xvipah73 - yeah, after I posted I reread what I wrote and realized illegal was not the right word. Thanks for clarifying |

This is an odd one. The art for the cover is correct, but the barcode and price information are not (barcode is reading for issue 21, not 25). I've attached a copy of the cover from comics.org. |

For some reason, FCBD always seems to come at me out of nowhere. To be fair, the only year I actually went was last year. And that was all buggered up due to the pandemic. Well, it's just around the corner this year. Only 3 weeks away! Perfect time to scope out the books you want to try and nab . . https://www.freecomicbookday.com/catalog https://www.dccomics.com/blog/2022/02/14/dc-reveals-fcbd-2022-titles?msclkid=d8660eeec01911ec9b50a9039684f3e5 . . DC has three on the tables this year: Dark Crisis Special Edition #0 (exclusive prelude book for the Dark Crisis arc) Galaxy: The Prettiest Star (preview excerpt for new graphic novel) League of Super-Pets: The Great MXY-Up (continues the story from the movie) . Marvel has three as well: Avengers / X-Men / Eternals: Judgement Day Spider-Man / Venom Voices (1 new story about Moon Girl) . Of course there are a ton of goodies from the independents as well. I'm looking to grab a copy of Bloodborne, Bunny Mask, TMNT, Sonic, Bone Orchard Mythos and a few others. edited by glorkar on 4/19/2022 |

This book is blowing up. It was just announced that Bad Bunny will be playing El Muerto (Juan-Carlos) in the next Spider-Man spin-off movie. Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Vol 1 6 is the first appearance of the character. Time to scour those back issue bins. As of right now, it's at least a $50 book. Most active listings are over $100.

Heh. For the heck of it I popped down to my LCS after work to see if they had a copy. I figured if they did they would already have it marked up. But wouldn't you know it? Flip through the back issues and there it sits with it's fantastic price sticker of $3! The guy at the register was a little surprised to see it. Mentioned how it's one of those books that nobody cared about until yesterday. He said they even "looked in back" and didn't see that they had one. Guess they should have tried the most obvious place first Now the real question is whether I should try selling it now or wait until closer to the movie release... |

I feel like they may have some impact at least. With so many comic book based television shows and movies these days, it's become less of a stigma to be geeky. It's more accepted as normal, not weird. So it's possible more people are talking about the hobby and getting interested in it. I think a lot of the people that are newer to the hobby start with books about their favorite characters from film. They want to get to know more about them, more of their story. Whether that turns into a passion for collecting I'm not sure. |

Crisis on Infinite Earths was both the Title of a comic series as well as a cross over event. Your best bet would be to look at what is called the "indicia". For this age of comic, you will most likely find it at the bottom of the first page. It typically contains a lot of information about the publisher, but the very first part of the first line typically has the comic book title and issue number (and volume too sometimes). . Here's the link to the main title: https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/crisis-on-infinite-earths/unr |
