Hello!
I am also new to this forum, but even though I searched for more than a minute I am not able to find the issues 2 - 5 of this series. Am I doing something wrong or are they not listed in the database and have to be added?
Thanks
Dominik
It can be easy to confuse the glossy words on he cover of the comic with the actual title. The Indica is the publication and copyright information usually on inside cover, bottom of first page or bottom of last last page. It is usually in tiny print.
CPG has a series of video for new folks of this guide here if you would lie to check them out. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3eOHtGDGIs2A7_jQdSV_ZuYxTmGfs1W1

How do I have my comics graded? Grading Guide at CPG is here https://comicspriceguide.com/comic-book-grading
There are other grading tutorials online I like better. I like this one because it has examples. http://artfulinvestments.com/comic-book-grading/
As noted - is this your grading or third party (professional service) grading? |

New Member grading advice Flash #139

1) Just from this one picture alone I would give the grade about a 4.0 (Very Good).
2) Immediately send all of your comics to me - I will grade them for you and give you a reasonable offer (not kidding!). More practical advice is to find someone to grade them locally - but hey, who wants to be practical???
3) Even if you do find someone locally, you need to have some idea of how to grade. I suggest checking out this website http://artfulinvestments.com/comic-book-grading/ . There is also a grading guide here at CPG - and there are other guides online. I would encourage you to have a general idea of grading - 5.0 is average - 9.4 is new off the retail shelf - and 2.0 is well worn. Check it for yourself.
Good luck - again - message me here if you need an offer. If they are half as desirable as this flash comics - you will have no problem. |

My husband inherited a ton of comic books and has put me in charge of selling them. So I am doing my research on grading them, and figuring out how to sell them. Here are the first couple that I am working with (these are a couple that we have duplicates of so they are my practice rounds. Anyways what would you rate them at? (I have a number that I am thinking I just want to see someone else guess) We have a lot of the Silver age comics that are potentially worth a lot, so I want to get this right. Thanks for any help you can provide.
I concur with Joker - looks to be about 7.0 on the first one and 6.0 on the second. This is just from looking at the cover. If the interior is faded like in the first picture - this will bring them down to about a 5.0
Suggest checking out grading guide here Comic Book Grading - learn the scale and how to apply it

To find just search "Zero" on CPG. Many times less is more.

Should there be a listing for Charlton Comics' "The Comic Book Guide for the Artist - Writer - Letterer"? This 36 page mini-sized comic is a great primer on getting into the business. While true that it is mostly text, it was written by Nicola Cuti, has a cover by Tom Sutton and interior panels by a host of Charlton artists.
Just a thought.

I love wacky prices on the guide!! Just Kidding!!! Okay - not really. This forces me to do extra work to go to other sources to check value.
Detective #359 is jumping in value. Comic Book Realms guide puts it at $1400 ungraded. Folks are getting bids of over $370 in 5.0 on eBay. Very hard to value. Seems to be a hot book.

lol. Yeah by the sounds of it there are lots of wacky prices in the guide. I think they just fon't really care at this point any more about trying to keep up with values. The fact that they still have that dumbass algorithm on graded books is just stupid. Hey - you're talking to use smart scientific folk here! I like algorithms! But - they need a dose of reality. A small sample can skew the numbers - got to fix that! |

What would you knock off a grade for a page missing at the back. Well half the page as a coupon was cut out of it. Not the very back page but near the back. I would send a picture in but still bidding on it on Ebay. I mark mine down to 2.0 or less if a coupon is cut out. |

There is a fairly complete list of recalled and error comics here http://www.recalledcomics.com/index.php
New Mutants #60 does not appear to be on the list. You might report it.
Another possibility is people have been known to disassemble and reassemble comic pages from different books. In this case the value would be piddly-diddily.

I will have to look into postimage.org. Since Photobucket has taken the "mo' money!" approach.

You have 5 MB pictures? Really? Suggest you reduce the file size. Being a old computer guy - really 200 dpi at about 3.75 x 5.5 inches is really all you need. Should come out to 250K - 350K. Scan will not show high resolution on this site anyway.
Okay - I have not personally tireid this on the new site. Any else to comment? |
