Discuss comic grading and how to evaluate books

I got The Amazing Spider-Man 101 first appearance of Morbius that I bought off of ebay The seller who has a good rating, graded the comic at 4.0 Very Good based on looking at the comic it seems to fall under the general consensus of what he graded it. However I was under the impression that a staple was pulled out a little bit but wasn't aware it was missing. So my question is this, Is 4.0 Very Good the grade you'd give a comic with a staple missing?

Grading takes the whole book into account so a missing staple doesn't necessarily mean it drops the grade by itself, but it is one of the major defects. On our guide, we don't start discussing missing staples until the 2.0/1.5 range. So the rest of the book would have to be in pretty tip top shape with just a missing staple for it to stay at 4.0

It also depends on if there was ever a staple. If it never got stapled the grade can be in VG range.

Thanks while inspecting the comic I found that the staple is still in there just down about 5 pages i was able to push the staple over and tuck pages back underneath the staple without damaging it any further not sure what the grade would be then?
