Hello, inventive people who know more about preservation than I do.

My father had a large collection of Gladstone Comics that my family and I would like to preserve by bagging and boarding, but we've not the first clue where to begin. I was hoping one of the more avid collectors might have the proper measurements on hand, so we can spend our money only on the sizes that will be of use. I was told that the average Marvel size was not the right kind.

Many thanks,

Clint, Who is posting this in the "General Discussion" section too just in case.

From what I gather most of these issues seem to be moderns and modern bags and boards should fit.
How-ever since some bronze age issues had differing heights (3-4mm) you may want to look at TPB bags or (Trade paperback bags.)

I have the conventional bags which just have a standard flap at the top and I also have the self sealing bags.
I've noticed that "prestige format books don't fit as comfortably into the self sealers so I just use current size bags and boards with those.

A lot of Gladstone stuff is just thicker books because of the high page counts (some as high as 90 pages.)

Check out this wiki page for some nifty pub. history:

Also when my lcs is out of suplies i default to the following site for supplies.

Lots of cool stuff. Hope this helps and if you need more help just ask!

It is really not so difficult to find out this information. A quick web search brings up
http://www.wikihow.com/Size-Your-Comic-Books-for-Proper-Storage

I would suggest you just make sure the comic fits loosely in the bag. (not too loosely, but slips in easily) The bag does shrink slightly over time - if the comic is too snug you may degrade the comic.

Hope this helps.

No problem, feel free to ask if you need help with anything else.

That's how I wound up finding the forums in the first place back in the day.

This is a great community of fellow collectors whose knowledge is vast,

I still pick up on new things almost daily.
