Hello, after more than 25 years out of the comic books world I am back again.
I am creating my "Collection" but is difficult for me to find the right grade for my comic books.
in example I started with my "Punisher War Journal" collection and I own from 1 to 50.
From when I purchased them in a comic shop I kept them in a library with a plastic bag and a cardboard back for each issue (probably an overkill for these comics...)
The standard 8.5 grade seems a little low to me, but I don'y want to be presumptuous
Since I live in Italy is not easy, or probably very expensive compared to the actual value of the comics, to send them to an official grading company.
Does exist a service, maybe sending some photos of 1 issue or with a video call, to have a rough grade that I can use as a guideline?

best regards and thank you in advance

Carlo

EDIT

for what is worth ChatGPT graded the #1 issue between 9.2 and 9.4

Most services would not give an opinion on grade without the physical book in hand. If your looking for grade simply for personal use there are multiple places on line that discuss what contributes to grade level. One of the key factors of grading is page whiteness. You can buy a card that gauges the color of the page. You can also see this online but the color of screens and such may not show true color.

Comics Priceguide has their very own grading guide that you can find here: https://comicspriceguide.com/comic-book-grading

Best option in Italy is to either find a good local shop that can help you grade, or buy an Overstreet grading guide and learn to do it yourself.

You're right in that comics that were handled carefully, read once, and then stored with a bag and board are probably better than an 8.5. But you'd also be amazed how many little things can add up to a lower grade as well. Better to be sure.

I use Nostromani's comic book graded guide. Heritage auction also has a good guide online.
