Not sure what goes into making a creator searchable, but this one has gotten me a couple times.

Carlos Alberto Fernandez 'Cafu' does not show up when you search for "cafu", but I have discovered it comes up if you include the leading apostrophe " 'cafu".
Also, his full name is Carlos Alberto Fernandez Urbano 'CAFU'.

Just noticed it's the same with Stanley Lau 'Artgerm' - you need that character in front of Artgerm for it to come up in the search.

All nicknames require the leading apostrophe in order to look them up by the nickname. Note, that when a nickname is active, in the Add flow you only have to type the nickname and it pops right up. Some other flows allow you to use the nickname without the leading apostrophe. I'm not sure if that is by design or a bug. I agree, needing to remember the leading apostrophe can be frustrating. The same happens if pseudonyms are configured like nicknames.

Anyway, whenever I see a name/artist that seems like a acronym or non-standard, I will immediately use the apostrophe if the initial search fails.

Hope this is helpful and maybe someone can assist with the feasibility of the search to always look at the Nickname for matching.

I'm sure I'll remember it too, now that I figured that little trick out. So the nicknames and aliases must be a hidden field that admins have access to? They aren't just entered as part of the last or first name?

thanks for that info. I don't do much with adding creators, but do some. this leading apostrophe thing is yet another hidden 'feature' that should be added to the Creator Add box text when it comes up, so EVERYONE can know. Adding 1 sentence of text should be quick to do. and "the feasibility of the search to always look at the Nickname for matching" would be nice too, may negate having to add the sentence about the leading apostrophe.
Glorkar, I assume you're talking about the Creator Add form for individual issues, right? Cuz if you're using the search page for searching Creators ( https://comicspriceguide.com/creators ), you don't need the apostrophe when using nicknames, from a couple tests I did with artgerm and cafu. or maybe you know that already, it just wasn't clear in your post.

Yeah, I was talking about when you are adding the creators to an individual issue.

Got another strange one.
Clarice "Saowee" Menguito
https://comicspriceguide.com/creators/clarice-saoweemenguito

Just added her as the cover artist to White Widow 3B. Bit of a challenge. Sao, 'sao nor "sao prompted any results. I had to hit the webernets to find her real name. Started typing clari and it popped right up.
Not sure what is different with her alias, but it simply won't come up in the search.
I did notice that my other examples are listed on the creator search page (https://comicspriceguide.com/creators/) as carlos-alberto-fernandez-cafu and stanley-lau-artgerm whereas hers is clarice-saoweemenguito (no dash and the alias is in the middle).
