Hello,

Looking at #1 Direct and #1B Newsstand the value is $15. But are the same books #1K & #1L in the original bag with a value $3 each?

Same question for #1D Silver no price variant value $25. And #1M same book (?) still in the bag and $3?

Just wondering if it's correct that the book out of the bag is worth so much more than the same book still sealed in the original bag?

Thank you.

Hi, does anyone know why the raw Silver (no price variant) and raw Green editions have a higher value out of the bag than what appears to be the same book still sealed in the poly bag?

#1 -$15 Green Direct edition

#1L - $3 Green Direct edition still in Polybag

#1D - $25 Silver no-price variant
#1M - $3 Silver no-price variant still in Polybag

An Admin added those without looking at the prices. It will be fixed by the time you read this.

Thank you! May I ask then if there is no premium to the books value by keeping it in the bag?

I understand that in general we should take books out of poly bags to better preserve the book.

But is market value the same for the raw book vs one in the bag?

They made a ton of raw books but less of the bagged variants. You would think the bagged variants would be worth more than the raw book.

Early on there was a premium attached to keeping the book in the polybag. As collectors have gained knowledge about the polybag and the problems that it can cause, they are removing the book from the bag. For example, if you leave it in the bag, you will have a crease on the back cover where the polybag is doubled up. So the longer you leave it in the bag the more likely that it isn't near mint. It cannot be graded in the bag by a third party or by a collector. The bag isn't acid-free so it will harm the book over time. Overall, I think it's a horrible idea to keep them in the polybag but every collector can choose for themselves.

I remove issues like this from the polybag and save the bag.

Sure sounds like its a good idea to take the book out of the bag to preserve the book. And save the bag.

I read somewhere they printed over one million Green editions and just 125,000 bagged Green variant editions. With the book in both cases being the same (?)

If that's true, then someone could take the loose bag and save it with a hi-grade raw book. But that would not be the real variant.

If I was buying a variant because it is a "more rare" variant, I would want to know that it is that variant. In this case, that might be having it still sealed in the bag...?

The silver no-price variant that came bagged does not have a price on the front cover. The silver raw edition had a cover price $1.75. So you can tell the difference between the raw and bagged editions if they are out of the bag.

But I don't think you can do that with the Green edition unless you keep the book sealed in the bag... Does that make sense?
