The admins are pretty busy just adding the regular weekly books. Sometimes it can take a hot second to add variants.
Users can actually submit variants themselves right from the book's page (instead of a forum post).
Simply go the main cover of the issue, click the variants tab, then click the red "!Report missing variant" button in the bottom right corner.

Thank you... you are correct, it really is best to submit variants directly on the issue via the built-in functionality. It workqueues and stays attached to the original issue, which really saves time and takes some of the guesswork and research out of the turn around time.
