OK I am seeing this more and more but alot of key issues are worth more if they are direct versus newsstand??
C'Mon man this is just another way to squeeze more money when this is NOT a rarity if this counts as a "variant" then that's a shame because I see more & more books going this way JUST to get more money out of them...what a joke...

It all depends on when the newsstand vs direct came out. There were some years where the distribution of one was considerably higher than the other. Thus creating scarcity and now increasing the price. However, some people don't care which one they have so if it isn't important to you then don't worry about it.
