I clicked the "Display Case" link in my user profile (upper corner modal of non-forum pages) and I get an error. Never set anything up here, is there something I need, like my own cover scans, to make a display case?

The Display case is for showing people your collection. So you have to go into your issues and upload a cover scan. It will sort the most expensive ones.
For example if you have an Amazing Spiderman 100

Click on the My Collection tab and upload a cover scan with the first button. (green arrow)
