In general, graded books are worth more than raw books in higher grades. But we've repeatedly seen raw books going for more than graded books with issues like this.
https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/darth-vader/3-RI/pjuuotp

We don't claim to understand why but it is the current reality.
If someone is looking for a raw book they might not even check the prices on a graded version because they think they will be higher. Sometimes they aren't.
Ron

Yes, makes sense on newer books. I often wonder why certain books get slabbed at all.
I think what struck me with the Flash comic was that it is an older book and all the price variances are pennies. Why bother? What algorithm came up with that, rather than simply identical worth?
Thanks for the any and all comments!

Yeah, that makes very little sense. There is a cost to getting something graded, and that grade once it is done and paid for stands as a "third party" opinion for the condition of the book on any future transaction. That alone is worth "Something."

For a lot of modern books, though, the CGC grade is correctly worth "Not Much" since there is potentially (still) a large population of books in great condition that are ungraded.

Hi,
I noticed something strange while researching Flash #140. Starting with a 7.5, and several grades below that, it shows that a raw in that condition is worth slightly MORE (15 cents) than a graded copy. I may not have even batted an eye if the amounts were identical for either side, but raws being worth more than graded? It's not even consistent down the line from there. For every grade below that a raw and graded are either even, the raw is worth a few cents more than a graded, or the graded is barely worth more than the raw. Everything in 8.0 or higher makes sense, raw versus graded.
I've pointed out a few small inconsistencies like this on other books and almost never get any answer or feedback, but I'll still try anyway. Thanks to whoever may read this!!
gage

https://comicspriceguide.com/titles/flash-the/140/ymxsn
