Seriously, this post contains spoilers! Don't read it if you haven't seen the movie yet! . . . . . . . .
In my opinion, the movie was terrible. I didn't mind watching it, but I have absolutely no intention of ever watching it again. It barely counted as a super hero movie. . . The plot was super weak and there were so many holes in. Honestly, it's tough to find a single redeeming feature of the film. . . The Intro: What was the point? - Child Diana found a creative solution to a problem (lost her horse so she took the slide). - Because she missed a gate, she was disqualified. She was told she cheated and cheating is the same as lying. - So the lesson is that you shouldn't find creative solutions to unexpected situations because it's equivalent to lying. . . The 80s: How do we know? - There were old cars parked on the streets. - Tube TVs. - Outfit change montage (fashion is fluid so this could have happened last week). - Cold War (we're kind of still at war with Russia, so this isn't definitive 80s). . . Wishes: Not consistent. - Wishes come at the cost of what you hold most dear (until Max becomes the wish stone, then he takes what he wants) - The thing you lose is gone right away (unless you're Diana. She sort of, kind of gets a little bit weaker throughout the entire movie but never loses her power completely). - Everyone only gets one wish (except Barbara. She gets two = be like Diana, then be an apex predator). . . Invisible Jet: Cool but pointless. - The jet is a nice call back to one of Wonder Woman's toys from the books. - Diana never learns to fly it. - Diana learns to bodily fly (sort of like Superman, sort of like Spider-Man using her lasso to grab onto things and swing) . . Golden Armor: Looks cool, but pointless. - Diana wears it only for a short period of time. - It had wings, but Diana already learned to fly without them. - It was supposed to be indestructible, but Barbara tore it to shreds in a matter of minutes. - Where did Diana find the armor? If it was supposed to be that powerful, why didn't Asteria hide it and keep it since she's still alive? . . What did Wonder Woman actually do? - Diana fought Barbara because Barbara wanted to keep her wish of being noticed in a good way for a change. - Diana used her lasso to broadcast a plea for everyone to give up their wish. -- Nobody gives up their wish until Max gives up his (because he all of a sudden remembers that he has a kid that he's partially responsible for). edited by glorkar on 12/28/2020

For the most part, I agree with you.
Although I think you're being a little harsh on the young Diana scene. When she lost her horse she got creative which was clever but she saw the target and choose not to hit it. She knew that she couldn't win if she went back for the target so she took a shortcut and tried to cheat. That honest theme was throughout the movie. So I liked that aspect of the movie.
The thing that I wondered about after seeing the movie was the motivation. With Diana, you know that when given the choice (Steve or Humanity) she will choose the greater good. That made sense. But Cheetah and Maxwell Lord's motivation were difficult to understand. There were holes in the plotline throughout as you mentioned. Disappointing since I loved the first Wonder Woman movie.

I really liked the first movie too. I think that's why I was so disappointed with this one. . I might have to re-watch the young Diana scene. I thought they flashed the target as she was zipping down the hill like she passed it without realizing it was even there. . I know what you mean with Maxwell's motivation. He was abused and belittled by his father when he was young, so he wanted to be a better dad to his kid? And his way of doing that was to be successful? But he was failing so he looked for a shortcut (I guess tying in to young Diana) but the shortcut made things worse in the long run? . I thought Cheetah was pretty straight forward. She wanted to be popular, then powerful. Those are the two things she felt she never had in her *real* life.

"Golden Armor: Looks cool, but pointless."
Golden Armor: Doesn't look cool, but pointless.
Superheroes don't need armor.
Actually, a clever, consistent tie between Rick Riordan's "The Mist" in Percy Jackson books and the way Diana renders the jet invisible. Then she renders jets pointless, which makes the scene dumb.
Annoying that most movies cannot decide whether to tightly resolve things with character deaths, or to be comics and have them go on and on and on... closing doors as soon as they've spent $200MM to open them seems wasteful....
