Very risky buying books still in opaque bags
What you bought was Schrödinger's Cat
Until you open it, you could have a 6.0 or 9.8 but you will never know until you OPEN it.

grading companies will open the bag to grade it, as how else can they grade it? they'll toss the bag too. are you looking to encapsulate it to sell it, or to keep for a while? the polybags supposedly will hasten degradation of the comic over enough time too, and those are already 28 years old. on that auction site, sealed ones are selling for around $150-$200, while graded ones are lower if 9.4 or less, but a 9.8 got over $600, with no bag of course. so worth more if graded and 9.6 or better, BUT, you have no idea of condition until you open it. But at least then you can be honest about the grade if you sell it, and not all that much difference between opened and sealed.

you can buy your own hardcase or good mylar bag if you want to display it in the bag. So, all depends on what you want to do with it. If reselling, you have to take it out of the bag if you want it pro-graded, but you could get much more for it, but it's a crapshoot and fairly high risk after all this time if you'll have a 9.6 or 9.8 copy. That's my tree-fiddy's worth.

Pretty sure you wouldn't be able to get it graded in the bag. They need to verify the book and the condition.
You could buy something like this: Comic Skin Slab It Yourself Kit on eBay
I did a quick search for comic book slab, but there really isn't a while lot out there. At least this one looks to be big enough to close around the book with the bag still on it.

Hi all,

Thanks for taking the time out to read this.

I just recently procured a copy of Superman #75 platinum edition still in the original bag. I paid a pretty penny for it and debating on what to do next. Hopefully you folks can answer some of my questions or provide helpful suggestions.

I enjoy having a bagged version of it, but I also want it encapsulated. Is it possible to do this without removing it from the bag?
