Newstand vs direct....Simple explaned
All people look for the rare comics....One of the newer ways is to look at newstand vs direct editions. Lets look at the rare comics I can think of now....I might miss some but i'm sure but you will get the drift...or not.
-direct or newstand----buy newstand in high grade when possible.....no one can tell if you are smart or not but almost all the copies of higher grades of comics are direct not newstand....so buy the rare newstand when you find them....
-In the early 80's there were more newstand printed than directs...yes true....but now see how many are newstand are high grades from that time era for each book....its universal guys...newsstand is more rare in higher grade as see everywhere.
-if rare high grade copies is your thing...then buy newstand....
-CGC is not listing Newstand vs direct...too bad
-CGC lists Canada variants ....This is only the cover price difference between usa and canada.
-CGC lists other variants like Mark Jewler inserts....etc...
I think CGC is getting ready to make the move to start tracking newstand and directs....But what does Tarn Kronos know??

Tarn, I agree with you about Newsstand issues being rarer in higher grades. The interesting thing about Newsstand vs. Direct pricing is that most of the time the prices are the same. When you look at a key issue, the newsstand issue is usually higher. Regular issues have very similar pricing.
Here at Comics Price Guide, we avoided adding all the newsstand issues because the work involved is staggering. We literally had to hire someone to enter UPC codes and newsstand/direct issues. That is his entire job. CGC might be waiting for someone like us to do the work of locating the issues before moving forward. They will have to do something about it soon. Ron

I agree and I applaud you for talking in third person. Defiant1 should start doing that.

I I send a picture and info about a specific key issue's newsstand edition, that is not listed, what turnaround should I expect?

I've sent in submissions and some have been waiting for months and still not showing yet.

The person who is working on the retail and newsstand issues is going by title. If you go to the newest covers page you'll see where he is working. https://comicspriceguide.com/new-scans
If you would like to contact him through the site his user name is ScottWesty. He's personally uploaded almost 3200 scans since starting here. Together with all the admins, we upload more books than any other site with thousands added each month. We make no guarantee about turnaround because we are doing the best we can do with the staff we have.

3200 Scans- incredible - way more than me. Any volunteers to assist?
