not sure why they would stick under normal circumstances with normal backing boards, but you could try taking one that's not worth much and sticking it in the freezer for say 10 minutes to start with and see if that gets it to let go of the board. may take longer too. but that's a trick for getting tape and other sticky stuff to let go, so it may work with a comic. leave it in the bag too. if it doesn't work, you have a damaged comic anyway, so nothing to lose. not worth having peeled back covers and paying for resto unless they're really worth some $, and you'll take the hit for resto too. sorry this happened. you can also ask the many comic restoration companies (well, only a couple good ones from what I've read) or Matt Nelson (who works with CGC) what they can suggest, which is probably a better idea to start with.

I think it also depends on the significance and era of the book. Even a Poor condition Golden age Batman will fetch a pretty penny.

That's very abnormal. It does sound like they might have gotten wet. Water damage would severely drop the value.

The back cover counts toward the grade of the book. So a damaged back cover is treated like a damaged front cover. Unfortunately, I don't know of a way to remove backing boards that are stuck to a comic. (never seen it happen) Were the books exposed to moisture?
R
edited by ronbatman on 7/4/2020

Hi
I have a bunch of comics which were of reasonable value I want to sell....but the backing board has stuck to the back cover. Is there any way of removing this? Are they still worth selling with damaged back covers?
