Any of you who follow ComicsPriceGuide know that we are in this for the long term. Part of that involves, improving our current offering and adding additional features and sites. You can look down the CPG Announcement page and see some of the improvements we've made.
We want to improve the app and hopefully get more 5 star reviews. Here are our initial plans
1. Add a Barcode scanner 2. Improve the search function 3. Add better functionality to the login, like a password reset 4. Push notifications about value changes (1 per week so that it doesn't overwhelm users with too many notifications)
These were the primary complaints about our app, so we want to add these features/functions. This will cost us money and time so I'd like to ask for a minor and easy favor.
If you use and love our app, please leave a 5-star review for us. That's it.
If you hate our app, please contact me and let's talk.
Ron

The app is currently free and you've mentioned the best feature, the bar code scanner. It's nice when you don't have to type in the title of a book and then search for the issue. You will soon be addicted to it. Ron

Eaglewolf, First post, welcome! We are beta testing the bar code scanner right now. Maybe I'll make a video for our Instagram for people to see it while in testing. Both of the things you mention will be on the revision.
We need everyone's help to add in the UPC numbers. I just added in all the UPC's for Batman volume 1. We've opened it up for all members to be able to add UPC numbers. Any help would be great.
Dylman, I see what you're talking about. Let me look into this. Ron

Our big need right now is UPC numbers in the system. Any member can add a UPC number to a comic book. We need your help adding those numbers!
This might help anyone who is interested in understanding the UPC number better.
A modern Spiderman comic has this number 75960608936902411 - The last 5 digits are what most collectors focus in on since 024 is the issue number, 1st Cover, 1st printing 75960608936902511 - Is the next issue
7 is from the UPC guidelines 59606 is the code for Marvel on current books 08936 is the code for Amazing Spiderman 9 is the check digit 024 is the issue number 1 is the cover number 1 is the print number
Easy enough formula now but there are so many books that need UPC's added. One of our members wrote a nice article on this topic on his blog. https://thejimfurey.com/2018/06/29/anatomy-of-the-modern-comic-book-barcode/ Ron

I am on it! tried to use the bar code scanner on Whitman comics from late 70s / early 80s - Those are a bit challenging as some had bar codes and some did not. Also probably not on the top of your list - not valuable or popular books.
I will have to retry on more common / newer UPC codes.
I see users can now add UPC codes - just like you can other issue information. Good job! Looks like a feature - shout this one out!

You are correct.
When we originally worked on the app we were thinking that the app would be best for conventions. You can quickly look at your want list or your collection or the price guide and make a purchase decision. If you wanted a bigger picture you could look at the site for sales, forums, price changes, etc.

I think that is the problem. The app would have to pull those images from a different place. I'm thinking that the connection isn't in place for customer scanned images with the app OR the memory isn't enough for those larger images. Either way, we have a clearer picture of your problem so we can work on it.

I am definitely for the bar code scanner and the better search app. The inadequate search app has always been a frustration for me

Looking forward to the updates! I went in and gave a 5 star. Personally I like the app, but these will add some great functionality.

I would LOVE: 1. Add a Barcode scanner 2. and when you do a search to be able to just type "Spider-Man 300" and then only show all the spider man 300's
Thank you!!
