I'm curious to know if it's possible to expand the creator search function when entering creator data for individual issues to also look for nicknames as some artists rarely have their actual name in the book credits.
Recent example: Jock - artist and cover artist for Batman Who Laughs When I've entered previous issues of Batman Who Laughs I've just searched for Jock and Jock by itself came up. It appears that the listing for Jock has now been updated to include his full name and reads as Mark "Jock" Simpson. This is great, but the search function now ignores "Jock". I didn't know his full name so couldn't look for Mark Simpson. I ended up going to previous books with Jock credits to find out that the name had been updated.
I've noticed this also with artists Stanley "Artgerm" Lau (which I knew so I could search for Lau), and Michele "Msassyk" Assarasakorn (which I didn't and it took a deep google dive to find).
There are many artists who go by nicknames, or have in the past, so it's great the mega computer allows for nicknames inside of actual names. It would be nice though if the search function looked for those nicknames. I would think that would lessen missing creator submissions.
Cheers! Jim

Me and Rob Otto (one of our blog writer) have been going through the creators and fixing errors, adding missing creators and adding nicknames. We found the same issue with the nickname not being searchable. (Currently, it set to search on the last name only) We are talking about changing the search to include both pieces of their name. I don't know if that's what will happen yet since we are still working through it. There are other options to consider.
I could see us setting up 3 areas with creators, First, Nickname and Last. Then make it searchable by either choice. Ron

As long as the coding allowed, that would a great solution.

That is the behavior on the Creator page under Community, but when entering creators for individual issues the search field already looks at first and middle name. Fun fact: It will even return names if you just type in initials, which is really freaking cool. Example: To find Danial Warren Johnson (Murder Falcon) I can just type in "d w j". This also returns Jordan D White which tells me that that particular search function looks for an entire name with matching character strings. But it always ignores nicknames.
While writing this response I was experimenting further and I think I discovered what is happening. Known nicknames are bracketed in either ' or " quotes (this is inconsistent). The individual issue search function requires those characters to find a nickname. Examples: Typing jock returns nothing but typing 'j returns Mark 'Jock' Simpson and one other. Typing artgerm returns nothing but typing 'a returns Stanley 'Artgerm' Lau and two others.
If you could find a way to make the individual issue creator search function ignore the ' or " in names that should allow searching by nicknames.
