Just saw that the value of this book has had a nice bump. I bought my copy back when it originally came out. All these years later it remains unopened in the original black poly bag. I guess my question is to anyone looking to pick this issue up. Is it important to you that it still be in the original bag? I guess if you buy it unopened you are taking a wee bit of a risk with the condition? Do opened copies command a lesser price? If you buy a graded copy, does it matter if the seller no longer has the black bag?

Well I don't know much about the value of the books between opened and unopened, but I have both in my collection. If I was trying to fill a hole in my collection today...I'd probably go for unopened first because I'm a reader. I don't collect for money...just for my own desire to own every issue of something and I actively read some of my stuff.

The answer is maybe. It completely depends on the buyer. I don't care but others will. edited by oxbladder on 10/26/2018

Is the cover of the issue for the platinum issue different that the bagged version with the red Superman logo? If the cover is the same, then the bag would be needed to identify it as the platinum version.
