there are copies of spawn #1 that the logo on the inside of the cover page has black ink spots from the printing. Do you have any information about this issue and do you know if it affects the value? thank you, michel

You do have to remember in the 1990's publishers printed a lot of comics. By "a lot" I mean that 1.7 million copies of Spawn #1 were printed.
That some may have have a sloppy printing job is not really surprising.
Spawn #1 was printed in a direct version - no UPC on the cover (no "box" ) and a retail version with the UPC code.
No price difference here.
The only verified error is where the printed missed printing the $1.95 price on the cover http://www.recalledcomics.com/Spawn1Error.php

There was an interview recently with McFarlane that talked about this, and I expect that's why it's now showing up and being talked about. McFarlane said it was maybe a 40/60 split or even a 50/50. So no expected value change.
I think they start talking about it around the 245 mark.

Going to bump this with an Ebay link to an auction that has a CGC copy with the printing issue noted. It seems this is a variation. And my copy has the printing error. SPAWN 1 CGC 7.5 SIGNED TODD MCFARLANE PRINTING ERROR ONE OF A KIND RARE VARIANT | eBay I think it should be listed in the database.
