I just signed up for an account today to start cataloging approx 1000 comics that were left to me. Most I believe are 90's comics which I've already researched and see they are not worth big $$$ in most cases. I logged 1 box in today, for a total of 116 books and it says they are valued at $559.50. Whose value is that? Is that what I could realistically sell them for? None have been professionally graded but all have been stored in a plastic sleeve with a backer board and in a long or short box. I noticed the default "grade" it was assigning to each book was a 9.4 or a 9.6 I believe. I'm just trying to get a realistic idea of the resell value so that once I get these all logged I can sell them. I can't keep them, I have no where to store them. Thanks for any insight that anyone can provide.

You have the ability to change that assigned value for each book although it's a painstakingly slow process to do, the value for 9.4 is assuming that most books are in at least that grade when new from the store. a hand-me-down collection is sure to have a few well read books that may very well be less than that. depending on the age, scarcity of the book and over all grade you can generally assume that fair market value will be about 15-25% lower than what the guide says without EEIG (Each and Every Issue Graded) However that being said there is no way to put a price on the sentimental value of your books and ultimately if there's a market for what you're selling auctions seem to get the highest returns for your efforts. the process can be time consuming and tedious but if you're willing to invest the time it'll be well worth the effort in the long run.
I should have mentioned first that it helps to know how to determine the grade of your books (http://comicspriceguide.com/comic-book-grading) reading up on grades will help tremendously if you go to sell and this will help you understand what your potential buyers are talking about when they ask about specific grades/condition. Hope this helps out. and remember if you have any further questions that there's usually someone around on the boards here to bounce a question off of. most of us are happy to help! and.... Welcome to the boards!
