Hey ruk I feel that way about Continuity comics.of the 1980's-1990's. To the art was jumping off the pages compared to the dot printing of the time. the books were made of a quality paper. I don't remember how many there are but not that many. One day I will put effort into finishing the run.

Tales to Astonish #27--Marvel-1962-
The first appearance of Henry Pym (aka Ant-Man). Jack Kirby and Dick Ayers cover and art.
Steve Ditko, Joe Maneely, and Don Heck art.
Currently #12 on Overstreet's list of Top 50 Silver Age Comics.

Don't have a story of buying a valuable book at 5 cents. But i can share that as kid, I bought comics for 25 cents off the 7-11 spinner rack back in 1974-1976 and I still have them today.
Hulk 181, GS X-Men 1, WBN 32, Marvel premiere 15, etc. All 0.5-3.0 as I was a kid and just read them. Wasn't until I was around 12 yrs old when I started to understand the value of the books.

Bought AMS 1 for $120 in 1980 from my local comic book store.
Had to mow a lot of lawns to afford it but I was so happy. Still have it today and had it CGCd 10 yrs ago - 3.5.

What's super-cool is showing my daughter my collection and letting her read those beaters, handling the gems and geeking out with dad.

I had a similar story of walking to the Commodore-a 7-11 kind of store with my brother and Buying Captain Marvel- we each got 40 cents-a week-
4 comics (remember I am old)
and reading them
