After serving in the British Army, 'Black' Jack Tarr went on to work for MI-6, the British secret service. In MI-6, Tarr came under the command of Sir Denis Nayland Smith.
Many years later, Smith called upon Tarr's aid to defeat Shang-Chi who had supposedly killed Smith's old friend Dr. Petrie.[2] Shang-Chi became their ally and they banded together to oppose Shang-Chi's father, the criminal overlord Fu Manchu.
