She was a perrenial TV favorite...83 episodes of The Bob Newhart Show...
Thousands of appearances on everything from Gunsmoke to Will and Grace...with stops at The Wild Wild West and The Invaders along the way...

And no stranger to films...James Garner's love interest, Patience in Support Your Local Gunfighter...
Dean Jones' wife Fran in the Disney classic The Ugly Dachsund (my personal favorite next to Newhart)...
...in fact she worked for Disney a lot...The Adventures of Bullwhip Griffin, Blackbeard's Ghost, The Shaggy D.A. to name a few...as well as the voice of Yubaba and Zeniba in the english version of the animated treat Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi or Spirited Away to most of you...

Like the late Elizabeth Montgomery...she was one of the people who helped form a male baby boomer's image of the ideal TV wife...

Good-bye, Ms Pleshette...

She was great in the movies (I also really liked The Ugly Dachsund, which is still funny today) and outstanding on The Bob Newhart Show. She had that smoker's voice which was so alluring when used in the right way....

I agree with you, Shadow, she and Elizabeth Montgomery were classic TV wives with a dash of sexiness, a combination that remains ingrained in my head to this day.

Other TV women who deeply influenced my adolescent years: Barbara Feldon ("99" from Get Smart), Donna Douglas, (Elly May Clampett from the Beverly Hillbillies), and Goldie Hawn (from Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In).

And, of course, all those lovely ladies featured on Love, American Style.

I encountered the same issue with Juliet Mills (Nanny and the Professor). I remembered the show but I didn't remember that she was really just an average-looking woman.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. But in consideration of some of the other lovelies here, I decided not to stretch the topic.

Similar situation with two movie-inspired series I recall fondly...

Please Don't Eat the Daisies with Pat Crowley in 1965-67...and The Ghost and Mrs. Muir with Hope Lange in 1968-1970...although the latter did a fine job of showcasing the talented Edward Mulhare...
The ladies were pleasant looking but not as eye-catching as the previously mentioned actresses...

How about Wrangler Jane (Melody Patterson) from F Troop 1965-67?

I enjoyed The Strange Report (1968-71) with Anthony Quayle...Anneke Wills was the cute female lead...

Photo courtesy of her website: http://www.annekewills.com/welcome.htm

And anyone remember Susan Saint James as Charlene "Charlie" Brown on several episodes of It Takes A Thief (1968-70)
Since there is a shortage of any kind of photos from It Takes a Thief...how about a Youtube clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-d9HMX0cI9g

Ahhhh...Sigrid Valdis (Hilda) on Hogan's Heroes from 1965-70...NICE!

Which reminds me of Claudine Longet (an early, early crush ) who played Yvette Gerard on McHale's Navy in 1963 for 2 episodes...came back as Andrea Bouchard in 1964 for one...and played Michelle on one episode of Hogan's Heroes in 1966...and as Marianne on 2 episodes of Rat Patrol in 1966-67

And how could we have forgotten Jeanie???

Tuesday Weld set many teenage boys' hearts a thumpin' as Thalia Menninger on the Dobie Gillis show in '59 and went on to become a cult legend in the movies, featured in such classics as Sex Kittens Go to College(1960).

She was a childhood model and the family breadwinner with a crazy stage mother. In some ways, she was the Drew Barrymore of her day, as the pressures of her career resulted in a nervous breakdown at age nine, alcohol abuse by age 12, and a suicide attempt around the same time. As a teen, she had love affairs with much older actors, and she moved away from her family and bought her own house at age 16. Eventually, she was nominated for an Oscar for her supporting role in Looking for Mr. Goodbar (1977).

From wikipedia about Tuesday Weld:

Although frequently typecast as the "blonde in the tight sweater," critics and others in the film industry have acknowledged her talent. However, Weld never achieved the level of stardom many thought her looks and abilities would bring, partly as a result of her turning down roles in films that became great successes and that made stars of others, such as Bonnie and Clyde, Rosemary's Baby, True Grit, and Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice. Roddy McDowall, who co-starred with her in the 1966 film Lord Love a Duck, said: "no actress was ever so good in so many bad films".

Yes, but...

From TVparty.com...

Tuesday Weld played Thalia Menninger, the golddigging girl that Dobie couldn't get. But the producers couldn't keep her either, Weld quit after the first season to do movies, returning occasionally in later seasons to boost Dobie's libido (and ratings). It was not an amicable split. "She just wasn't a pro" Dwayne Hickman told the press after Weld left the show, "Late to work, late getting back from lunch, no sense of responsibility to the show."
